Wilco — 12/13/11, Chicago, IL (Riviera Theatre)

Guest Jesus Etc

Did anyone see the older guy (probably around 40) nearly knock out one of the 3 drunk boys who were cutting to get up front 5 minutes before Wilco started? He backed off but I was really hoping he would have taken that kid down. Cutting = Bad Parenting.

You crazy kids with your Rock n Roll music. It's noise I tell ya. It's all noise.

Great. F*cking. Setlist!

That pretty much says it all. Jealous doesn't get to the half of it. After so long away from Chicago, I am glad the folks there got this setlist.

And someone mentioned that the energy went up and down, like with playing I Got You early in the show. I remember that being fairly common before AGiB or so. Love a few old rockers sprinkled throughout the show. Pop a Monday in there halfway through, and it's a time warp to ten years ago.

Hi to great young fans standing behind me and my Wilco pals up on the rail-I am using Allison's post but this is Laurie. Met you and we got one of you up on the rail for a couple of songs. Hope to see you at the Vic! Amazing show. Hope you had a great time as we did.

I was on the floor by a bunch of middle-aged guys who were pretty unfamiliar with Wilco's post-Summerteeth output. One of them decided that every song they didn't recognize was from the new album. This included (but is not limited to) "Reservations", "Less Than You Think" and "Just A Kid"

Come on, when we were younger we all did the same thing. Coming from Europe I still find American audiences strange - in Scotland it was every person for themselves. If you could push and shove without getting a slap you earned the right to be upfront.

Pushing and shoving your way to the front is wrong, because people wait in a line in a nice orderly fashion to be up front. It's courteous and respectful. I have never, ever pushed my way up front to a show.

A nice long set tonight (2 hours, 22 minutes, by my clock, with a total of 29 songs)...

The complete setlist, as played:

I Might

Black Moon

Bull Black Nova

Side With The Seeds

Red-Eyed And Blue>

I Got You (At The End of the Century)

Born Alone

You Are My Face

Open Mind

Kamera

I Must Be High

I'm Always In Love

Capitol City>

Handshake Drugs

Can't Stand It

Dawned On Me

-------------------------

Via Chicago

Whole Love

The Late Greats

Walken

Just A Kid

Monday>

Nice setlist...red eyed and blue and I got you so early in the set would make me lose my shit right then. (meaning I would go nuts...in a good way)
