Remember Adam Greenberg? He's that guy who played for the Cubs seven years ago and got hit in the head by a Marlins pitcher with the one and only pitch he saw in his MLB career. He's back in the bigs on a one day contract with the Marlins and will be used as a pinch hitter tonight. This is being done as a fund raiser after a campaign to get Greenberg an official at bat rather than a plate appearance. Greenberg, who has been playing independent ball in recent years, would also like to catch on with an organization under a minor league deal next season, when he'll be 32.

Amazing finale today with As and Rangers. Would love to see the As pull off this comeback. Would also love to see the Orioles tie up the Yankees.

Funny that the Tigers, with the lowest AL winning % to be in the postseason - are the only team with the luxury of resting starters to get their ducks in a row for the postseason.

Go Cabrera.

Congrats to Miguel Cabrera, nice job on the Triple Crown.

First year for the extra wildcard game.

In the NL I have Atlanta over St Louis

and in the AL I have the upset special, Orioles over the Rangers

I would love to see an O's v Nat's world series.

I thought I understood the infield fly rule but now I'm not so sure.

Problem is it wasn't an infield fly and the ump didn't call it until after the ball had hit the ground.

Looks like the fix was in...

the braves didnt deserve to win that game. they played terrible baseball, and there were a handful of plays to blame the loss on before even getting to the infield fly call

3 errors and double digit men left on base wont win you games. end of story.

it was a bad call, but that doesnt negate all the bad plays they made themselves.

regardless, theres no excuse for the atlanta fans behavior. that was an embarrassing display. chipper deserved better for his last game.

I go back and forth on these one game playoffs. In the case of the ATL game it sucks, but the O's v Rangers it is some fantastic baseball going on right now.

I really want the O's to win, but if Texas won, I'd be cool with that too.

Still gotta keep my O's v Nat's World Series.

The Rangers bats are as dead as Generalissimo Francisoc Franco.

Napoli, Soto, Young and Cruz are a slow death in the middle of the line up

It's hard to belive that this is the same team from April and May

Nice win by the O's. Though agree w/ Crow the Rangers looked lifeless. The Texas fans they are showing on the TV look like someone stole their dog.

The Yankees / O's series looks good. Same number of series wins (9) and close in batting average against each other (.250s ) and runs scored (5).

Was a really nice run for the Rangers. Three straight playoff appearances, two Wold Series. This was a team that would be eliminated in early September in years past

They will have a LOT of retooling to do next year.

Hamilton and Napoli are probably gone

Adams is a free agent.

Lewis and Feliz won't be ready...Dempster was a rent-a-player. Oswalt was a stop-gap.

It was painful watching Michael Young struggle at the plate and in the field...he's got to be gone.

The Young guys had better be ready to step up...they will need to find a fourth and fifth pitcher out of Perez, Grimm, Kirkman and Scheppers. These are the only ones that appear to be close.

Olt and Profar should be competing for a big league slot and it's time for Martin to step up.

Looks like the Rangers are back to competing for third place in the West...

If Profar is ready...then trade Adrus for either a pitcher or an outfielder.

So in the Divisional Series who you got?

This is what I think will happen:

American League

Detroit over Oakland in 4

Baltimore over New York in 5

National League

Washington over St. Louis in 3

Cincinnati over San Fran in 5

I don't want to predict beyond that, cause more than likely I am wrong.

There is turmoil and angst in Big D.

The epic collaspe will undoubtedly see the departure of Hamilton and Napoli. There are now some rumblings about Washington having shot his wad (gambling term) and the possibility that a new manager might be needed.

Not sure if I am ready to write off Wash, but some of his in game decisions are dicey.

Hamilton's gone. I hope JD moves Young no matter what, even if that means having to eat a large part of his salary. No idea about Napoli, but I can see Texas re-signing him as long as the price doesn't get too high. I doubt Wash is going anywhere. The big question is what to do about Profar. I love Elvis and would love to see the two of them up the middle. Of course, that would mean moving Kins to the outfield where he would be overpaid for the numbers he put up this year.

I think Wash hamstrung himself by thinking he had to play Michael Young, the worst everyday player in baseball this year (or, at least, close to it). That's why he needs to be moved. I don't remember what the bullpen situation looks like. I know Nathan signed a two-year deal before this season and I would imagine Koji and Ogando will be back (can't remember Adams's status).

Rotation will have Yu, Harrison, and Holland. Colby Lewis will be there whenever he's healthy enough. Not sure when Feliz will be back.

I know a lot of the talk has been around acquiring Justin Upton. Not sure what the price would be for that, especially considering his favorable contract. Should be an interesting winter.

Adams is a free agent and going to undergo that thorassic impengment surgery. I'm not sure Lewis will be available at all next year.

I think everybody except Wash and Young think it is time for Young to ply his craft elsewhere.

The decision to award the team with "home advantage" games 3-5 was a terrible one. That means the "home" team is only guaranteed one home game. Teams with home advantage should always open a series at home. Now every game in Oakland is an elimination game. (But, they seemed to do fine with that last week, so maybe it doesn't matter).

It's just for this year. Besides, it hasn't hurt the Reds. Or the Yankees. Or the Nationals.
