choo-choo-charlie
Pittsburgh - 2003 my first Wilco show. The Flying V that SRV is holding is probably Albert King's guitar. Probably so. Nice find on the Tweedy photo. What tunes did he play with a Flying V? Bob Dylan with a bass?
Analogman
Probably so. Nice find on the Tweedy photo. What tunes did he play with a Flying V? Bob Dylan with a bass? Kicking Television (I took that Wilco photo with one of those disposable cameras.) The Dylan photo was used in a Fender advertisement (I think).
NoJ
Was it on "El Paso City"? Nah, it was one of the opening tunes.....might've been "Sam" or "Snow". Btw, I fricking love El Paso City. I sent you the show, Double Door, mid 2000s.....

choo-choo-charlie
Kicking Television (I took that Wilco photo with one of those disposable cameras.) The Dylan photo was used in a Fender advertisement (I think). I guess that might have helped them sell more basses -- but why not use a bass player in the ad? Dylan is about the last person I think of when it comes to Fender basses.
Analogman
I have often wondered about that myself. My guess is that they wanted him in the ad, instead of some unknown (not famous) session musician.
jff
Tom Verlaine, usually a Fender player.
Tweedling
Wish there was a pic, but Taj Mahal played bass for a very short stint in '74 in a J Garcia band configuration (Great American String Band, that also featured David Grisman). I've never seen a pic, but if anyone has a pic I'd love to see it.Holy shit, that sounds so bad ass! Are there recordings that you know of?
Mr. Heartbreak
How about Hendrix with the Rickenbacker? Not a guitar I normally associate with him.
tinnitus photography
he might be holding Pete's. Rick, that is....not prick or dick.
jff
Zappa has played all sorts of different guitars, but I've never seen him with a Jazzmaster.
Analogman
That's Mike Nesmith's guitar. That is Mike beside him, and Peter Tork sitting on the floor.
