bleedorange
the thing most blowing my mind is the repeated mentioning of The Beatles as a favorite band. Why? Is it that hard to believe that a lot of people really like the greatest band of all-time?
Doug C
The question mark is forming over my headHopefully someone will comply and answer your question.
tinnitus photography
Why? Is it that hard to believe that a lot of people really like the greatest band of all-time? as favorite band? yes. the whole concept of 'favorite band' seems so 5th grade BFF to me. i am not denying the influence and greatness of them, but i honestly can't recall the last time i listened to them. ps - they are not the greatest band of all time. tinnitus photography
no there isn't. there's a largest building, a longest ski jump, a fattest man, a smallest penis. but there is no greatest band.

Winston Legthigh
Ok, so it blows your mind that people are declaring that one of the most popular bands of all time is also their favorite band?
choo-choo-charlie
It's also that I want to hear The Beatles every day. Whether it's listening to one song in the midst of a wide-ranging shuffle, playing a few licks on the guitar, or singing/humming a melody to my 11-month-old daughter, their music just makes me feel good, which is something I enjoy. Don't get me wrong; I've gone through extended periods where I don't listen to them, but I always come back to them. They're just part of my musical DNA.

bjorn_skurj
I envision it as a pyramid, with The Beatles at the top, as their music makes me feel happy in a way that no other music does. Wilco is on the next level, alongside Sabbath, Zep, Floyd, Gabriel-era Genesis and The Clash. Quite a bit on Level 3 - A Tribe Called Quest, Beastie Boys, The Band, Collins-era Genesis, the Dead, etc. But yeah, The Beatles now and forever at the top, above all others. gogo
is the bible your favorite book? If we were on a specifically Christian message board, I'd guess that a lot of people would say yes to that. But we're on a pop music message board, so...
Winston Legthigh
is the bible your favorite book? No, but it wouldn't blow my mind that it's a favorite book of a shit-ton of people. But, that's empathy for ya!
bjorn_skurj
Being free from the strictures of conformity is good. Even better is being free from the strictures of non-conformity so you can like what you like, regardless of how popular or not it is. I think I have exquisite taste in music, but I know that only applies to the space between my own ears.
