twoshedsjackson
Linclink, you mave the Mt. Jam show? I missed that one.I recorded it. The quality isn't nearly as good as The Ryman - the webcast volume was really low. I think it's worth having, though. I'll send you a DropBox link tonight.

calvino
I guess I wouldn't have signed a contract without guaranteed payment, either. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/ct-tweedy-taste-contract-talk-0725-20140724,0,2659317.storyAccording to their contracts with the city, Tweedy got paid $100,000 despite the fact he didn't play, while Williams pocketed a $50,000 guarantee though city officials canceled Taste on July 12, after heavy rains left standing water they feared would cause problems with electricity in food preparation areas. For some reason reading a rider is always amusing for me: Had the show gone on, Tweedy made do without his usual allotment of "six bottles of Mexican Coke," two bars of dark chocolate and a pint of "assorted gourmet olives." His rider requests for a jar of quality salsa, "no Frito Lay," and mixed green lettuce, "no iceberg," also were to go unfilled, according to the contract.

calvino
By John Byrne Tribune reporter 12:21 p.m. CDT, July 24, 2014 Hometown rocker Jeff Tweedy and alt-country chanteuse Lucinda Williams made out OK even though morning storms washed out their evening sets when the city opted to close Taste of Chicago the day they were scheduled to play. According to their contracts with the city, Tweedy got paid $100,000 despite the fact he didn't play, while Williams pocketed a $50,000 guarantee though city officials canceled Taste on July 12, after heavy rains left standing water they feared would cause problems with electricity in food preparation areas. After the cancellation, Williams played a free show Saturday night in a small South Loop club. Overall, the city paid $622,100 to bands booked to play at this year's Taste, which ran for four days rather than the scheduled five-day run in mid-July. Tweedy's payday was matched by indie rockers Awolnation, while funk songstress Janelle Monae was paid $75,000. Soul singer Aloe Blacc was paid $65,000, according to his contract, and bluegrass band Nickel Creek made $60,000 for their Friday set. As in years past, the acts went without the venue-provided alcohol included in their contract riders, as Taste doesn't furnish liquor to performers. Had the show gone on, Tweedy made do without his usual allotment of "six bottles of Mexican Coke," two bars of dark chocolate and a pint of "assorted gourmet olives." His rider requests for a jar of quality salsa, "no Frito Lay," and mixed green lettuce, "no iceberg," also were to go unfilled, according to the contract. Taste operators were prepared to provide him with two packages of "Dentyne Iced Gum" and a can of mixed nuts — not just peanuts —- as the contract states. Monae received her preferred post-show meal of unseasoned grilled tilapia with brown rice and a grilled vegetable, according to her deal. She also got a requested "6-pack of orange Fanta on ice." But the city did not provide her usual dozen white carnations or three vanilla candles for her dressing room, according to the contract. Country singer Emmylou Harris, meanwhile, did not get her usual container of low-fat cottage cheese or individual packs of string cheese for her dressing room. jebyrne@tribune.comCopyright © 2014 Chicago Tribune Company, LLC
Analogman
You have to wonder why Lucinda Williams gets paid less. It's a strange world.
calvino
It's a man's world, I guess. I would think Emmylou would have gotten paid more than Tweedy - I would hope at least. Guess, Tweedy may have better management/agents.
LouieB
Having sat in the rain for Emmylou who was essentially opening for Nickel Creek, I am pretty sure she was paid less than Jeff. Clearly Tweedy was a pretty big draw compared to her, for better or worse. LouieB
calvino
Yeah - I guess the name of the game is who puts "the butts in the seats" and pay accordingly - which of course makes sense.
