uncool2pillow
I am really quite certain the world doesn't need Miley Cyrus contributing to A Day in the Life.

choo-choo-charlie
I am really quite certain they should have done a Magical Mystery Tour cover/tribute instead. That album is even weirder and more apropos to the Lips.
GtrPlyr
I guess when you run out of your own musical ideas you just crank out cover records.
remphish1
The lips are the band I fell the most out of favor with from 96-2006 They were my band..I really don't care about them in general in the slightest any more. The theatrics killed it for me.
twoshedsjackson
C'mon guys, it might even be as good as this: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sgt._Pepper's_Lonely_Hearts_Club_Band_(film)

Robby
C'mon guys, it might even be as good as this: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sgt._Pepper's_Lonely_Hearts_Club_Band_(film) Which Bee Gee would Pat and John be most suited to play?Personally, I think Pat could play Barry based on hair alone. choo-choo-charlie
Love the Soft Bulletin..was a fan from 1996-2006 ish Everything post Yoshimi was not for me I guess I misunderstood your post...I interpreted it as "I fell out of favor with them from 1996-2006," which would rule out that 1999 masterpiece. For a while they were easily in my top 5 favorite active bands but after "At War With The Mystics" they might as well be dead to me.

lamradio
I really like Embryonic. One of my favorite albums. I don't care for much of their other stuff. Some good tunes on Bulletin and Yoshimi, but Embryonic is my favorite.
theashtraysays
Listening to this one a few times this week. A couple thoughts...AD gets pretty lost in "A Little Help...", but they definitely add a beautiful harmony in the midst of some Lips-induced noise.I thought the DSOTM cover was more "Lips-ified" than this one is. I still like that one better than this one so far. I'll go ahead and say it - Miley Cyrus does a pretty darn good job on Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.
Wilco75
I think you have to really be on acid to enjoy most of their work! lol

tongue-tied
They lost the plot after Yoshimi. Which is a shame, because I believe Steven Drozd has more talent in his pinky finger than most bands have collectively. Their uneven output put me on the fence, but the recent firing of their drummer was the canary in their drug-hazed coal mine. The Sgt. Pepper cover is way more interesting than it ought to be, but never much fun. There are good contributions (Autumn Defense!), and compelling studio trickery, but scrambled together into inanity. Drozd singing "Fixing a Hole" works the best because it's the least mussed-with. The woman singing "She's Leaving Home" sounds lovely, but unfortunately is copy and pasted out of a better performance.
