SarahC
I cried when I read the news. Sad. He was one of the actors I loved to watch. Saw every movie I could of his. Just so sad. I can't imagine the sorrow a person must feel to fathom killing themselves. It's heartbreaking.
Winston Legthigh
So sad. Mork and Mindy's run started when I was 8 and ended when I was 12. Was definitely one of my favorite shows.
Magnetized
I love Marc Maron's podcast and one of the most memorable interviews I've ever heard was the one he did with Robin Williams. Marc just reposted it yesterday. Give it a listen. http://www.wtfpod.com/podcast/episodes/remembering_robin_williams
Mr. Heartbreak
What a kick in the gut. One of my all-time favorites. I loved him since before I even heard Reality, What a Concept, and that was in the 70s.
lamradio
Terrible tragedy. Someone close to me suffers from depression and it's a horrible disease. Many people receive treatment and live a halfway normal life, others aren't so fortunate.. Either way, the world has lost another pure talent who touched so many lives. I hope his spirit has found peace..
LouieB
Really sad. Being talented, famous, rich, and well loved is no guarantee. Just awful. LouieB
mountain bed
What a lightning-quick mind he had! His comedic improvisational skills were unmatched. This is a big big loss.
lamradio
A stranger goes to a doctor complaining of depression. The doctor tries to cheer him up and recommends going to the circus, as Zeppo, the funniest clown in the world, is in town. The stranger answers "Doctor, I am Zeppo, the funniest clown in the world". Sweet Papa Crimbo
Unless one has had experience with depression, it is unfathomable the amount of pain that makes a person decide that not living anymore is a solution. Mr. Williams had received treatment for addiction and his depression. Depression is treatable, which makes this story all the more frustrating, maddening and tragic. GtrPlyr
I finished reading a book about depression and suicide just last week (William Styron's Darkness Visible.) Thankfully he was able to get himself out of that hole by checking into a hospital of all places, on the advice of a friend that had a similar experience. It's too bad Robin didn't find such an alternative in time.
NoJ
I'm baffled by the whole thing.
ih8music
Depression sucks. And depression fueled by substance abuse is like throwing gasoline on a fire. It's a horrible loss. Hug your loved ones -- you really don't know who's suffering inside.
NoJ
Insomnia was a great flick.
smells like flowers
One of the hardest things to accept about a loved one's depression is that refusal to get help is a hallmark of the disease. Talk about a vicious cycle.
NoJ
The recent PBS special on Robin was completely devoid of any insight into who Robin was/is as a person. Yes, we know he's a comedic genius but that's as far as the show went. Sort of disappointing.
Mr. Heartbreak
I didn't see that special, but this is probably a little more interesting and insightful: http://www.vulture.com/2014/08/what-it-was-like-to-do-improv-with-robin-williams.html
