jff
I have no idea how he's going to top this, but I'm excited to find out. I haven't heard it yet, but I don't know how he's going to top the bouncing a hotdog off the forehead of a bully story he told on the Joe Rogan podcast.
Winston Legthigh
Apparently there's also an anime film that was produced along with this album -- because why not? Yes - it's on Netflix right now. Watched the first three or so songs.
uncool2pillow
I've only listened once. It's a great album. I feel like I got a preview at Iowa's Hinterland Festival in August 2018. His keyboardist was sick and the played like a power trio with some wild extended guitar solos. Noisy and angry as hell.

jff
I'm intrigued. Any idea what episode this is or where to find it? It's the most recent episode, as of last week. I'm not very familiar with Joe Rogan's podcast, or how often he posts episodes, but I listened to this one the other day. It's long, and this story is near the end. Edit: Actually, it's from September 30 and it looks like he's been very busy podcasting since then. http://podcasts.joerogan.net/
jw harding
Thanks. Went to search on youtube, turns out Sturgill has been on his show quite a few times.
chuckrh
got row 2 for the tour at the Gorge in Washington, May 2. excited!
bigideas
Sound and Fury was very different. His last few records always made a lot of critical year end lists, but I don't know if I saw this one on any - and, no, that doesn't mean an album is good or not - just a big change in reception for this one. Really bummed the tour imploded before it got to the northwest but couldn't be helped. Sturgill has turned into 1 of those guys who keeps things interesting by constantly changing. Looking forward to what comes next.
uncool2pillow
I saw him summer 2018. It was a serious power trio rock show. Lots of extended solos, furiously loud rock and roll. Not at all what I expected, but it did seem to set the stage for Sound & Fury. Would love to see him again.
nalafej
He's onto bluegrass now, right?
Boss_Tweedy
Looks like the board missed his two bluegrass releases. Today brought news of another new Sturgill album arriving later this year. And for those who missed the bluegrass records, check those out because they're excellent. https://pitchfork.com/news/sturgill-simpson-announces-new-album-the-ballad-of-dood-and-juanita/

Both are quite good.
