  1. Was this post recycled from 1992? I hate Leno for this exact reason.
  2. Mel Kiper is a fraud. Someday people will realize how full of shit he is and stop putting him on TV. I hope that day comes soon.
  3. For what it's worth, Mr. Heartbreak, I've got your back on the rap/hip-hop question. I will acknowledge that I do occasionally listen to a couple of Public Enemy albums (that came out around twenty years ago), but I haven't heard much of anything since then that I've thought was worth a damn. There have been a few stray tracks that I've enjoyed for various reasons, but the entire catalog of rap and hip-hop could disappear from the earth and I really wouldn't miss it in the least. My take on all this is that this is a thread for blasphemy. It self-identifies its content as shocking. If you
  4. Has Jimmy Fallon ever been funny? I mean, even once, for a fleeting moment?
  5. If I did my conversions right, that's about $4.73 per gallon USD. As bad as it is, gasoline in the U.S. is still quite a bit less than in much of the rest of the world. Edit: this page shows updated per-liter prices in USD. Multiply those prices by 3.7854 to get the price per gallon, and you'll see how much the rest of the world is hurting. (On the other hand, it's salad days in Turkmenistan.) In the U.K. it's currently about $7.27 per gallon USD.
  6. Lemonheads - "Style" and "Rick James Style" on Come On Feel The Lemonheads Bettie Serveert - "Palomine" and "Palomine (Small)" on Palomine.
  7. I agree. Liege and Lief is a fantastic record, but I slightly prefer Unhalfbricking. What We Did On Our Holidays is pretty good too. The self-titled debut is also quite strong, but doesn't feature Sandy Denny. It's also worth picking up Heyday, which is a collection of radio sessions from the Sandy Denny years. The other thing to listen for, throughout all of these records, is the guitar work of the young Richard Thompson.
  8. Michigan may not miss Terelle Pryor for long. article Michigan, Georgia land top juniors as quarterbacks become sparse Schools seeking an elite quarterback in the recruiting class of 2009 had better hurry. The ranks of the uncommitted grow thinner by the day. On Thursday, Western Branch (Chesapeake, Va.) quarterback Kevin Newsome committed to Michigan, while Tampa (Fla.) Plant quarterback Aaron Murray said he would attend Georgia. Newsome, ranked No. 39 overall for 2009 by Rivals.com, seems an ideal fit for Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez's spread offense. Newsome is a 6-foot-3, 215-poun
  9. Huh. Maybe Billy Beane reads this board... Hopefully he'll be in the lineup when I see the A's at the Giants in June.
  10. Somebody get this man copies of I Want to See the Bright Lights Tonight and Shoot Out the Lights, stat!
  11. I don't think that label is nearly patriotic enough.
  12. All of their songs are the same. Some of the words change.
  13. Her vocal on "Who Knows Where The Time Goes" is one of the most sublime musical occurrences ever.
  14. When I did drink cheap beer (i.e., briefly during college), it didn't get any cheaper than Dubuque Star. I think it was $5 for a case of longnecks at Food4Less, and sometimes only $4. Plus, it was far better than Milwaukee's Best, which was the cheap pisswater of choice for most of my classmates.
  15. We already bought our tickets for that Michigan show. Aimee Mann is opening. Hopefully she'll have a full band with her.
  16. Fuck no. I refuse. I never had that much interest in drinking to begin with.
  17. I'm guessing Rodriguez wasn't going to let him skate in his bullshit general studies classes anymore, or maybe he expected the football team to clean up the stadium after games like Joe Paterno did last year, or something like that. Fuck that whiner Boren. By the time he's eligible to play for the Buckeyes, Michigan will be beating them anyway. He'll just be one more kid who never played for the winning team in that rivalry.
  18. Not to me. I don't really drink much anymore -- hardly at all, in fact -- and those few times that I do, I want something good. I'll order water or Diet Coke before I order a cheap beer.
  19. article DRM sucks redux: Microsoft to nuke MSN Music DRM keys By Jacqui Cheng | Published: April 22, 2008 - 04:08PM CT Customers who have purchased music from Microsoft's now-defunct MSN Music store are now facing a decision they never anticipated making: commit to which computers (and OS) they want to authorize forever, or give up access to the music they paid for. Why? Because Microsoft has decided that it's done supporting the service and will be turning off the MSN Music license servers by the end of this summer. MSN Entertainment and Video Services general manager Rob Bennett sent
  20. The following stars are not attractive, despite what pop culture wants you to believe: Julia Roberts Cameron Diaz Renee Zellweger Drew Barrymore Natalie Portman Scarlett Johansson (that's right, I said it) There are plenty more where those came from. Who sets the standards for taste, anyway?
  21. Glad to see them getting some love here. I spent much of the early '90s spinning their discs quite often ... as well as those of a somewhat related band -- the Silos.
  22. I don't know if that whole band has ever played together, even when they were in their prime. One of the main singer/songwriter guys lived in Gainesville, Florida, and the other in Indianapolis. They maintained separate lineups for live shows. But yes, great band.
  23. Liam is way more annoying than Noel. And that's saying something.
