Are there any bands you hope will reunite?
cryptique replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
I saw Cheap Trick pretty recently and they were every bit as good as in the old days. Seriously, they haven't lost a step. -
For some reason that page is blocked by my employer's web filter. If he's not on there, the singer from Dishwalla should be. So should Conor Oberst. But none of them will ever be as annoying as Mariah Carey.

I go 8 miles each way, at least five of it on the freeway, and I have the reverse commute (I'm outbound when everyone else is inbound, and vice versa) so traffic's never an issue. Most days, that's all the driving I do. If I stop at the store, it's on the way and really doesn't add to my mileage.

Someone should add "Flick vs. David Chase" to the VC feuds thread.

Life is too short to drink cheap beer. If my choices are cheap domestic pisswater and going thirsty, I'll happily go thirsty.

The version of the English Beat that's on tour is a pale shadow of its former self. For a true reunion, they would need Dave Wakeling, Ranking Roger, Saxa, David Steele, and Andy Cox -- and sadly, that's probably never going to happen. The main reunion I'd like to see is The Smiths, but it will never happen. I missed the recent Camper Van Beethoven tour, so I'm hoping they do that again so I can catch them the next time around. -

Barenaked Ladies are a far better band than most people give them credit for, and they're one of the best live acts out there (they give Wilco a run for their money). Beck has never been anything more than an average talent. The original Fleetwood Mac version of "Black Magic Woman" is about ten times better than Santana's. I love the early Nicks/Buckingham era of Fleetwood Mac, but "Stop Dragging My Heart Around" is better than any song Fleetwood Mac ever recorded (except possibly that original "Black Magic Woman"). I would rather listen to Lindsey Buckingham play guitar than Eric Clap -
Bettie Serveert had a "big hit"? I don't think I've ever heard one of their songs on the radio, or seen a video on TV. I really dug that band back in the day. Saw them play once -- they're pretty good live.

"Here's Where the Story Ends" - The Sundays (also "Love" and "Goodbye" and "Summertime")
-
"Lack of Water" - The Why Store

This doesn't sound like ironclad proof to me.

"Superhero" - Garrison Starr

I have lossless rips of the Sundazed discs, but I sure wish I had the discs themselves. There are very few albums as good as Moby Grape.

I stand behind my comment. -
I hope someone does. He's still too good a hitter to not be playing every day. edit: He should get his old job back in Oakland. Jack Cust isn't getting it done this year.

To me, that's not what this thread is about. It's about dropping your bomb and letting it explode, and other people should just deal with it. But I don't make the rules. Go ahead and question everyone else's blasphemy if you must. I just think you're missing the whole point. -

I can't think of a single current British band that interests me. -

Yes, I have a problem with them. They should take their talent and play some music that doesn't suck. Also: maybe it's just my impression of the concept of this thread, but I don't think feedback on other people's blasphemy is part of the deal. -
My shortcut for the forums didn't work last Monday evening -- I got an Apache page, possibly the same one described here. When I checked the next morning the forums were back up, so I didn't bother to mention it until I saw this thread. I use Firefox.

There have been some fucked-up things said in this thread, but far fewer of them have bothered me than I expected. You know who else sucks? Rush. All jazz that's not fully acoustic sucks ass. Electric guitars should never be used in jazz. Neither should any keyboard instrument except piano. Truthfully, there hasn't really been much "jazz" recorded since the mid-'60s(?) that I think is worth a damn. Fusion is an abomination. I too like (love, actually) Steely Dan. And I like a lot of Doobie Brothers songs (though their albums don't tend to hold together well). And while I'm definitely -

Radiohead are overrated. Arcade Fire are vastly overrated. The Decemberists kind of suck. -
Damn. I saw him in November with the band. This sucks.

Starved for attention. -
Oh, I have no problem with you posting it. I'm just advising people not to click it.

Total fucking waste of time. I would advise not even clicking the link.
