I'd probably find a way to sneak the Posies onto the list, but otherwise I don't have any huge complaints. Probably because I can't be bothered to care all that much.

Blocked by the damn web filter. Is this something that can be copied and pasted, or is it multimedia? ...or maybe I could just view it when I get home tonight.

No, you're thinking of Australia.

Pasteurization destroys some bad bacteria and stuff, but more importantly it destroys flavor. For many foodstuffs, I would rather take my chances with a carefully crafted, unpasteurized artisanal product than settle for inferior pasteurized versions. Apple cider is a prime example. Unpasteurized = heaven on earth. Pasteurized = bad apple juice.

I like that stuff. I also like Barilla's roasted garlic pasta sauce. As I recall (sorry, don't have a label handy), it has a pretty short ingredients list and nothing too awful in it.

Sadly, I hadn't quite caught up to veined cheeses when I was at Grinnell. I've had a fair amount of Maytag Blue since then, however. Velveeta is the butt of many jokes, but it really does make awesome grilled cheese sandwiches. My favorite (which most people seem to think is disgusting) is grilled peanut butter and cheese -- with crunchy peanut butter, of course. My mom makes the Lee Brothers recipe, and it's fantastic. She says the most important thing is to roast your own peppers. The recipe is in this book. I could eat that stuff all day long, spread on virtually anything. My fa

Inspired by recent cheese-related posts elsewhere... Are you a cheese fanatic? What's your favorite cheese for sandwiches, melting, or just eating? I never used to like veined cheese very much but have begun to understand its greatness. A good Stilton on a good cracker is hard to beat. I'm also a fan of a lot of the Italian cheeses I've tried over the past few years, such as Taleggio. I love cheese that's been aged for a long time ... I've had Hook's 7-year cheddar and loved it; now I want to try their 10-year cheddar. What's your idea of cheesy perfection?

With Ortiz going down, I'll have five members of my fantasy team on the DL. I could have seven, except I dropped two of them already. I'd drop more, but the pickings are getting pretty slim.

LiveNation ... a spinoff from Clear Channel. Should it surprise anyone that these bloodsuckers now want even more of your money for a decent seat at a concert?

Uncontacted Indian tribe spotted in Brazil

This couldn't have gone in the other thread you started about this tribe? -
The story said heart failure, but we all know he died of Bo Diddley-itis. RIP, Ellas. This, combined with the recent Eugene Chadbourne thread, makes me remember the Chadbourne song "Bo Diddley is a Communist." Meant to be funny, but an awesome tribute to the man and the legend.

Were you watching the NBA in the '90s at all?
-
Wow, that's spectacularly wrong. Jordan's career field goal percentage is 44 points higher than Kobe's.

Just wait until they hear about Britney. -
I'm only even vaguely aware of who you are.

Heard about this last night. RIP, Harvey.

Kinda like you and baseball. OK, not exactly like you and baseball, but I think there's a point to be made there. Your devotion to statistics/sabermetrics makes it really hard to talk to you about that sport.

Meet the new boss ... same as the old boss. I hope this isn't true. Not that I don't think Collins can coach, but there are better candidates out there. After whiffing on D'Antoni and Carlisle, this reeks of desperation.
