Suggestion: maybe do it in a month other than February?
-
I was thinking it was Nels going way high on the lap steel, but yeah, I can hear Bird too. The two of them together is quite a sound.
-
Don't worry -- the audience recordings have been pretty darn good. If no one got a pristine web stream (and given the issues we all seem to be experiencing, I'm guessing no one did) there will at least be those recordings.

I was. I mean, I am. I mean, I will soon. Honest.
-
Considering that this board is named as an ode to Wilco, Wilco playing this song as an ode to us would be ... ironic, or something.
-
There have been sporadic issues with the stream. Stick with it -- or maybe restart it -- it should be OK (hopefully). There's ongoing commentary in this thread.

I believe it's a Minuet in G Major from the Little Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach. I used to play this when I was a mediocre piano student.
-
Why are we hearing Bach piano minuets being played on a guitar?
-
Silly ... you're not supposed to stick them up your nose...

At least 53 times, actually. p.s. - I guess I'm not very good at signing off and going to bed.
-
Yup. Fuck the haters ... that song was great in those commercials (and I never minded the Wilco/VW ones either).

I feel like driving a Volkswagen to buy an HP printer.

Aw, damn, set break. I'm gonna have to bail before they start up again. G'night all!
-
I think they should use some of this weird distortion on the next album...
-
So, the visuals -- that's just a series of still slides, right? Or are some people seeing actual video?
-
I'm sad I missed "Pieholden Suite." Was it as allsome as I would expect?
-
Oh, so, hi and stuff ... I'm here! My stay will be brief again this evening ... that 5 AM alarm is a real deterrent to staying up late.
-
I hear violin, so that's most likely a "yes" on Andrew Bird. Earlier it was mentioned (somewhere) that the horns would be there all five nights.
-
It's not running yet, but my guess is that you'll find it here starting at 7 PM CST. If not there, it'll be somewhere else on the wilcoworld.net site.
-
I didn't have to pee, but then you used the words "stream" and "pee," not to mention the number 1, in the same post.
-
Yeah, but his chili sucked ass.

Respect is the key to all of this. At a general-admission show, everyone should be able to reach compromises to make the sitters and standers equally happy. Just don't be an ass about it, and it'll be fine. Be aware of the people behind you, and if they're sitting and you're blocking their view by standing, be sensitive to that and see if you can work something out. And then the world will be all sunshine and butterflies, or something like that. -

I'll make my final points as well: The balcony, or at least parts of it, should be a refuge for those who want to sit. If you're unfortunate enough to show up too late to get a good spot on the floor, please respect those in the balcony who don't want someone standing directly in front of them. Obviously this doesn't apply in venues where there isn't that kind of setup -- but there are lots of places where it's standing-room down below and sitting up above. If the crowd up above clearly wants to sit, respect that. Don't make the show about you. Those other people paid for their tickets too. -
I had to pick two to be consistent with the original post.

And I quote: Your statement seemed pretty clear to me. I'll grant that maybe that's not what you meant... It's called playing to your audience. It's pretty typical that a performer declares that night's crowd to be the best, certainly better than the previous night's crowd. Don't take that stuff too seriously. Reading back, I found exactly one mention of such behavior. Maybe I missed some? In my experience at the Riv, people go up to the balcony for a reason -- to sit! Is it that hard to believe that some people really prefer to sit at these shows? And that they're not disrespectin
