  1. Even if you folks had only appeared for "Pieholden Suite," you'd have been the unsung heroes of the residency ... but every song you played on was greatly enhanced by your presence. I wasn't able to attend any of the shows but have been listening to recordings non-stop. And I'm excited that my brother will see you guys in DC at his first Wilco show!
  2. A good song with a few really bad lyrics. If Jeff wrote a new lyric to cover that "songwriter ... metaphors" part, I'd love to hear that one played live once in a while.
  3. Man, I hadn't thought about the Gear Daddies in a while. I think I've got a couple of their discs.
  4. I'm betting it'll have a resurgence at the theaters next week. DVD by summer, probably.
  5. All of the audience recordings I've heard for all five nights sound great.
  6. Sweet. My brother will be at that show.
  7. Doe's most recent album was pretty darn good. Back when I was fresh out of school (a hundred years ago) I used to listen to Meet John Doe incessantly. There are a few artists about whom I've said that if I could have anyone's voice I might choose theirs -- Doe is one of them. I've seen him with the Knitters, but not with X or as a solo act. I wish I had a chance to see him on this tour.
  8. For some reason your NC list made me think of Fetchin Bones (or maybe it was the mention of Galaxie 500 right below it). Whatever happened to that band, anyway? I'd love to track down their albums on CD. The members of the dB's were all from NC, though I think they got together in New York.
  9. I changed your report above to match what SI.com is currently reporting. Duhon was not part of the trade, evidently -- instead it was Griffin. The Cavs also get the Bulls' second-round pick in 2009.
  10. As I understand it, this is a known but mysterious issue. I was able to upload a photo, as were some others, but many more members have not been able to.
  11. It wasn't on any of the "official" studio albums. Not in the U.S. anyway.
  12. Petty is not from Indiana ... he's a Gainesville boy. Another good Florida band was For Squirrels. Also Crowsdell. Both sadly defunct. I think Less Than Jake is from Gainesville (but I don't think I've ever heard one of their songs). Don't forget the Miami Sound Machine! As for Michigan ... well, we have Ted Nugent () and Bob Seger (), but more importantly, we have the MC5 and Iggy Pop. Patti Smith now calls Michigan home. The White Stripes are from here. One obscure but fantastic (defunct) band was The Fletcher Pratt. We're also home to people like the Verve Pipe, Sponge, and the Von B
  13. I sympathize with your unpleasant concert experience, but you could be less of a prick about the guy being fat. I'm having trouble deciding which of you two would piss me off more.
  14. Standard pop stations?!!? You do realize that album barely sold any copies, right?
  15. Incorrect on both counts. You've apparently never heard Sweetheart of the Rodeo. You can't tell me that's "mainstream fluff." And for that matter, what is "alt-country" anyway? Does anyone even use that term with a straight face anymore?
  16. I'm guessing he got that kind of stuff through his Columbia House membership.
  17. OK, now I really am down for the count. Enjoy the rest of the show!
  18. I want to hear their take on "Wild Honey Pie"
  19. Just the thought of that album cover gets him hot.
