  1. It's been nearly 28 years since my own tornado experience, but I'm still as freaked out by them now as I was then. Scary pictures, sooie ... glad you're OK.
  2. I think they saw "Lez Zeppelin" and jumped to conclusions. Their own "complete list of artists" doesn't mention Led Zeppelin.
  3. I feel the same way about festivals, which is just one of the many reasons I won't be going to this one. That said, those of you who are going really should check out Orchestra Baobab. They're a blast.
  4. Join us. If we can just get the whole board to do it, THDW can have long conversations with himself and everyone will be happy.
  5. Podsednik signs with Rockies Pods is married to a former Playboy Playmate. Isn't that a bit scandalous for those pious Rockies?
  6. I have the Capsoul one (via download). It's damn good. I need to start buying these discs.
  7. These statements are contradictory. You're trying to have it both ways. If people can't figure out BitTorrent or are otherwise barred from accessing torrents, they should request B&Ps. Though the B&P is kind of old school these days, it's still done and people are still willing to do them.
  8. His introduction to "Stop" was great ... referring to Madonna: "I recorded it as a tango ... she recorded it as ... a hit." "I'm not sure why I didn't think of that."
  9. I'm pretty sure he played the following last night (not in order)... Trampoline This Afternoon Time Is a Lion You Can't Fail Me Now Civil War Stop I Will Write My Book Our Song Sold Edgar Bergen I'm sure I forgot a few, though it was a pretty short set. Leo, Wendy, feel free to correct me/add stuff.
  10. So you were there, down on the field at the time? You have some kind of privileged insight into the workings of his mind? Interesting. Improvisation is not his game. He's a pocket passer. That's why the offensive line has to maintain the pocket for him or there's trouble. That's not a weakness on his part -- he's probably the best pocket passer in the game right now, with the possible exception of Peyton Manning. It's a style of play, not a deficiency.
  11. Being snarky generally works better when it makes sense.
  12. Your position is just plain selfish. You're disrespecting the tapers who bring us these recordings just because you don't want to deal with the minor inconvenience of downloading larger files and ripping them to your preferred format. Keep disrespecting them, and they'll stop providing you with the free stuff you so thoughtlessly abuse. In other words, STFU.
  13. Wendy, Leo and I saw him at The Ark last night here in town. This is his old stompin' grounds, so he was in a pretty good mood. The show was spectacular -- I'm not too intimate with his catalog, and that usually detracts from my enjoyment of a show, but it didn't matter this time. Those guys were mesmerizing. The whole set was acoustic (Joe on guitar or piano, a stand-up bassist and a drummer), but I had to remind myself of that from time to time because of the overall energy of their sound. The setlist did focus on the latest album, but its detours through old material were fantastic. If
  14. Act now! Won't last long at these prices!
  15. While I have no specific knowledge of the taper's wishes in this case, most tapers insist that their recordings not be traded in lossy formats. It's common etiquette to keep them in FLAC for the purpose of trading/downloading. People can then convert them to the format of their choice for listening, but that's up to the individual. If this website obtained permission to post these as M4A files, cool. I don't know if they did or didn't. The person who recorded this show is a VC member, so perhaps he'll visit this thread and clarify things. If he's OK with it, so am I.
  16. I have to say, as someone who was there, I'm not real happy to see this posted in a lossy format.
  17. Cockney Rebel - The Psychomodo Damn, I'm loving this. How did these guys never break in the states? Kind of Bowie-lite on the glammier stuff, but still.
  18. Whoa ... seriously? They gave Eli the MVP? That's a crock of shit. I'd probably give it to Osi Umenyiora. That guy was in Brady's face all night long. If it still went to an offensive player, it should've been Steve Smith, not Eli. The stats on those guys probably don't look that impressive, but I think they were the main game-changers for the Giants.
  19. Well, crap. If it were anyone but the Giants, I probably wouldn't care. But, ugh. Plus, I was really hoping to never have to hear about the '72 Dolphins ever again.
