Contador in yellow again, but only by eight seconds. The last few stages should be fun.

I have no idea what this means.

Steve Earle & The Del McCoury Band - The Mountain
cryptique replied to welch79's topic in Someone Else's Song
I saw Earle with the Del McCoury Band touring on that record. Absolutely fantastic show. As for whether it's a good representation of this stuff ... no, not really. But it's not a bad place to start, imo. -
I like them both! (I love soccer.)

Five-yard penalty, replay the down.

No thread on this yet? OK, I know, no one in the U.S. cares... Personally, I enjoy some (probably blood-doped) cycling, and this year's Tour has been a good one so far. Controversy in today's 11th stage, as Cavendish wins his third stage but his leadout man, Mark Renshaw, is booted from the race for head-butting Garmin Transitions leadout man Julian Dean. Video (not in English) - the good stuff starts around 4:20 in. My take is that Dean swerved pretty aggressively trying to squeeze Renshaw and Cavendish out and Renshaw was just trying to make space. He probably didn't need to head-but

I'm right-handed and I always used to keep my wallet in my back left pocket, but then several years ago I had a favorite pair of shorts that only had a back right pocket. That one pair of shorts forced me to keep my wallet in my back right pocket, and it became a habit ... I have done so ever since.

who do you think needs to be remastered?
cryptique replied to Synthesizer Patel's topic in Someone Else's Song
Nope, I have the first bunch, no bonus tracks. They're a bit muddy, but listenable. I'll look for the remasters (though my budget for such things is pretty well depleted at the moment). -

Huh. I've never seen any remasters of these, though I guess I haven't looked all that hard. I have the original CDs and they're not all that great (though they're not horrendous). -

Graham Parker's early albums. And maybe some later ones, too. -
Huh. I'll have to check this one out. Reviews are quite positive overall, but AllMusic sure didn't seem to like it.

Led Zeppelin BADLY needs a full-catalog remaster without the "loudness wars" treatment. -
Post videos of the best OPENING acts that you've seen
cryptique replied to PopTodd's topic in Someone Else's Song
Not really a video per se, but... Saw them open for Shannon Wright at Schuba's, circa 2000. Shannon Wright sucked, but these guys were awesome. The leader of this band is now a member of The Dead Weather. -
I've taken that train several times. It's pretty cool, actually.

I'm a big fan of Dents and Shells. To me, that one seems underappreciated.

Who's going to see him this fall? I need to buy my tickets for Ann Arbor...

Um, yeah. You might want to look at a map.

Try Joe Dumars, Bill Laimbeer, and a ridiculous cast of other characters, including Adrian Dantley, Mark Aguirre, Dennis Rodman, Rick Mahorn, John Salley, Vinnie Johnson, James Edwards ... not superstars, but those championship teams were deep. And mean.

I haven't really followed his career much over the last fifteen or twenty years, but this new one sounds pretty good to me. Not great, but pretty good. I saw something the other day that was along these lines: "The internet is over" -- Prince "Prince is over" --The Internet

George Steinbrenner in Critical Condition

Press reports are now saying that he has died. -
The ESPN broadcast was ridiculous, but aside from that, I don't see much justification for anyone being upset with LeBron James. He was an unrestricted free agent. He decided to sign with another team. He did not owe his former team anything. He decided to go play with a couple of other marquee players to try to win a championship. He even took less money to do so. Didn't we just see this a few years ago in Boston? What's so different about it this time? Yes, the way he packaged the decision (aided and abetted by ESPN) was kinda douche-y. But so what? The broadcast of the NBA draft, and all
