  1. I wanted so badly to go see one of those Forever Changes shows that Love played a few years back, and just couldn't get to one. That album had a major effect on me back in college, and it's still a favorite to this day. Didn't he have leukemia? I thought I remembered reading that somewhere. A towering talent. I can't believe he's gone, and that Bryan MacLean is too.
  2. The comfy chairs arrive this morning! That is why I am not yet at work -- the dreaded "three-hour delivery window." The best part of this will be the permanent banishment of the uncomfortable-as-all-hell couch that I loathe. Personally, I believe that couch is largely to blame for the surgery I had earlier this year.
  3. Here ya go. edit: though I can't see it (damn web filter), I have a feeling j4lackey just beat me to it.
  4. I hope he did. WITHIK is a good guess, I think.
  5. When my sister-in-law visited recently, she'd been nursing my niece for three or four minutes before it occurred to me what was happening -- and I'd been staring at them the whole time. Oops. I'm pretty dense sometimes.
  6. Yes, nursing in public should be allowed. That cover is less risque than those of most of the magazines in the racks at the average grocery checkout line every week. The way it's shot, it could just as easily be a woman's elbow as her breast. (Why a baby would be suckling an elbow, I can't say, but that's beside the point.) The woman who said she'd shredded the cover is a fucking idiot. This was my favorite part: Way to rub it in.
  7. Mine's sorted alphabetically too, but I have artist names listed in [First Name] [Last Name] order, so the first artist listed is Adam Schmitt. First song: "See Me Fall."
  8. I heard that Starbucks puts a substance in their drinks that brainwashes people into thinking that stuff like American Idol and James Blunt is damn fine entertainment. Oh, and that it's OK to pay a bajillion dollars for a coffee drink.
  9. So instead of blowing up the shark, Mythbusters jumped it?
  10. I doubt Costello has anything to do with this, though I can't say I know for sure. Nobody's forcing anyone to do anything. If you think you're being forced to buy this newest round of reissues, you're exactly the kind of sucker they were hoping to find. Personally, I so rarely listen to the bonus tracks on the versions I already have (Ryko, mostly) that I can't imagine spending the money for the Rhino or newest versions. The Ryko reissues are perfectly good remasters (vastly superior in sound quality to the original Columbia CD pressings), and I tend to only listen to the original album t
  11. I don't think my player does this "normal play" thing, whatever that is. I can either put it on shuffle or choose an album and let it ramble.
  12. Well, they are still in first, technically. They're tied, but trail the Yanks by percentage points.
  13. I realize I'm in a small minority, but I do prefer Galaxian to its successor. Not sure why, except that I always played it better. I have Galaga too. Actually, with the huge BitTorrent of ROMs that I downloaded, I have virtually everything from back in the day, though much of it is flawed in some way or doesn't work too well with a gamepad -- Tempest being a prime (and unfortunate) example.
  14. I play Galaxian, Elevator Action, and Pitfall on various emulators. That's about it.
  15. Oh, OK, I figured it out. That list is a breakdown of Big Papi's gamewinning hits, giving the teams they came against and when. Add them up: fifteen in all. Not sure why that wasn't clear the first time I read it.
  16. I don't see how that Rocky Mountain News piece could be right. Are we to assume that no other team in the majors won an extra-innings game at home during that time?
