  1. For a number of reasons, the first of which being your tendency to lash out impotently with a mean-spiritedness worthy of Karl Rove, you do not serve as a spokesman for the current admins.
  2. How much to delete the Steely Dan vs. Owen Wilson thread? I could use some $$.
  3. While it's true that I lust for power, any rumors that I have the slightest interest in being a VC admin are nonfactual.
  4. I'd have been much more into that, say, ten years ago. Toots & The Maytals might be fun, though. I saw them in ~1993 in a small club and they were great.
  5. Tip for next time: it's helpful to wait until the previous one is closed. Today is my Monday!
  6. Aside from Steely Dan, which of those are the "exciting shows"?
  7. Interesting that you seem to think people care about their postcounts. I certainly don't. If anything, I'm a little embarrassed about mine. If that's all you think we're doing in the RTT, you're way off. I completely understand people not wanting to keep up with the RTT, though. I didn't -- couldn't -- for a long time, and I'm not even sure how I eventually got sucked into it. It's harmless fun. Random topic thread. It's usually one of the pinned threads at the top of the Tongue-Tied Lightning forum. Thread titles often make little or no sense. It may be a bit hard to catch up to at first
  8. They should sell it in the U.S. as "Soylent Sauce."
  9. I checked Wikipedia, and they spell it "Wilco." Now, anyway.
  10. Make sure you get your hookers and blow at the same time, so you can do the blow off a hooker's ass.
  11. Apparently they're working again.
  12. Again, these are cherrypicked statistics that are used to manipulate people's opinions. I would suggest that, for the most part: Those who live with relatives do so because they can't afford to live on their own. Those who are single and don't have children are barely supporting themselves at best. Those who have a working spouse are typically trying to increase the family income because that spouse isn't earning enough to keep up with the bills. Those who live with their parents ... meh. They're called high school students, for the most part. And they probably are responsible for much of th
  13. Even if the BLS figures are correct, they're far too limited in scope to constitute an argument against raising the minimum wage. One of the usual arguments is that people will lose jobs if the minimum wage is raised. This is a scare tactic, and false. Burger King will still need workers -- they won't close stores just because the minimum wage is raised. Also, the figures on minimum wage workers receiving a raise within one year -- that's just the way business works. If you have a minimum wage worker who stays with your company for a year, you typically give that worker an annual review a
  14. Oh, I wish I'd been running. Gonna need to lose several more pounds before I can get up to any kind of speed. It's strictly walking for me for at this stage.
  15. Who is this "Wilco" you're going on about?
  16. Have they fixed the PMs yet? Last I heard, they were out of commission.
  17. So ... you've never actually been here during the summer?
  18. That's from an extremely biased source. Guess what? Another extremely biased source.
  19. I got out early-ish this morning so I could get my exercise out of the way before it got "hot." Ahem. It was already hot. And sticky. And nasty. A couple of miles later I probably could have wrung a gallon of liquid out of my T-shirt. And yet ... this is just the prelude to the REAL hot.
  20. You're obviously not listening to it right. Go back and try again.
  21. My statement has been corroborated by current Chicago residents, so bite me. I haven't even attempted to give anyone advice on specifically where to live in Chicago. My one bit of advice had to do with not limiting yourself to living within the city limits if you can be on a train line -- advice that's as true today as it was when I lived in the area. If I start recommending specific neighborhoods, then go ahead and mock me.
  22. You've obviously never seen Gallipoli. Early in Mel's career (made between the two Mad Max films). I'd recommend it to anyone. The same goes for The Year of Living Dangerously. I'm not defending him -- I feel pretty much the same way, but not all of his films have been shite.
  23. I'd like to see some figures on that.
