  1. I'm with you on this. Attentiveness is good -- among other things, we like to have our beverages refreshed pretty often -- but hovering is bad. Also, I put a little extra in the tip any time a server manages to avoid addressing my group as "you guys," unless we're all male.
  2. I had a conversation a few years back about this same idea, except the name we thought of was "Crying Out Loud."

  4. I may have to watch this. This kid is from here in town, and attends my alma mater. It'd be cool to see a Division III player take down the big boys. from Grinnell News Online: Grotberg chosen to participate in ESPN 3-Point Championships Those familiar with Grinnell College men's basketball already know about John Grotberg's prowess as a 3-point shooter. Now he'll show those abilities to an even bigger audience. Grotberg '09, a guard from Ann Arbor, Mich., has been chosen as one of eight men's participants in ESPN's 21st Annual College Basketball 3-Point Championships. The event will
  5. How else will hot people ever learn about disappointment?
  6. I've never tipped for takeout. To me, that's the whole point of getting takeout. Well, that and I typically get my food faster that way.
  7. TugZip is good too. And free.
  8. I lost a Final Four team (Memphis), but seeing Duke go down was worth it. Of course, I picked 'Nova to beat them, so that helps too.
  9. ^ I've never done that, but I never really thought about it (and I don't stay in hotels very often). Is that really expected?
  10. Motherfuck. Turn your back for one second... Did we figure out who the lucky winner is? edit: I think it was this post:
  11. Me too. My hair is absurdly thick and most barbers/stylists have no idea what to do with it. I go to the Chinese ladies because they cut thick hair all the time and it doesn't really faze them. And they only charge $12.95.
  12. I have noticed that a group with a single check tends to tip far more than one with separate checks. When I go out with coworkers and we only get one check, everyone throws in too much cash and we usually just leave the excess for the server. There have been tips from us that were well over 30%.
  13. Mr. Music Head is a pretty darned good album. That's the only one I really know.
  14. I'm guessing this is why so many places add a gratuity charge to bills for parties of 6 (or whatever) and more.
  15. I tend to tip in the neighborhood of 20%, though I do express my dissatisfaction with bad service by knocking that down a bit. Even for bad service, though, I still tip 10% or more, unless it was unforgivably bad, in which case I'm more likely to tip the change in my pocket and talk to the manager on the way out. (This has only ever happened once.) For haircuts (mine cost $12.95), I tip $2 - 3. Usually 3, though I've gone down to $2 on occasion when they've annoyed me (I go to a shop run by several Chinese women who sometimes spend all their time shouting at each other in Chinese, though mos
  16. Just another fucking asshole whose attitude is basically I'M GOING TO MAKE YOUR SITUATION ALL ABOUT ME.
