  1. There was a thread, but... Glad to see they brought Phillips home safe and sound.
  2. Sherbet. The word is related to sorbet.
  3. I'm too lazy to say "probably" properly, most of the time ... I can only manage "probly."
  4. Inspired by a Magritte painting called "L'Empire des Lumieres."
  5. Meh. In an hour of new material last night I laughed maybe twice. I guess maybe I'm in the minority on this one, but I'm beginning to think that it's time that the American series does what the British one did, and make a hasty exit while it can. It's hard for me to say this, because I was enjoying the beginning of this season quite a bit, but the show's recent direction just isn't bringing the laffs for me anymore, and any device they use now to restore Michael and Pam to their previous positions will be too ridiculous even for a thoroughly ridiculous show. My guess is that Bob Vance w
  6. I hate to ask an obvious question, but have you refreshed your browser? Sometimes it's that simple.
  7. The show has ceased playing to its strengths, and it's becoming nearly unwatchable. The new paper company storyline isn't working, and it's robbed the show of its best asset, which is Jim and Pam torturing Dwight. And as always, they need less Michael and a lot more Creed. Also, as much as I like Ed Helms, his character needs to die. Now.
  8. Thanks for the heads-up! My sister-in-law is at this show. edit: Whoops, she was at last night's show.
  9. Comcast has been doing a free preview of Extra Innings ... I'm watching the Brewers-Giants game, off and on, this evening. I think the preview ends on Saturday or Sunday.
  10. The last I'd heard, the good Captain was in poor health, so if he really did appear with P.J., that's exceptionally good news!
  11. Maybe it wasn't Van Vliet but Eric Drew Feldman (former Magic Band member)? This is from an April 5th blog post on beefheart.com: "Beefheart's work ... used to make me feel ill" - PJ Harvey PJ Harvey's new album A Woman A Man Walked By, recorded with long-time musical collaborator John Parish, features former Magic Band member Eric Drew Feldman on keyboards. John Parish and PJ Harvey are both Captain Beefheart fans and significant musical similarities to the work of Captain Beefheart have been noted by most reviewers. Even the publicity material for the album at PJ Harvey's MySpace pag
  12. He wasn't just in the organization ... he started last night's game. Such a sad story. The Angels website doesn't even have anything posted about it yet (there's a picture of Adenhart but it's a story about last night's game).
  13. Speaking as a "good old fashioned hetero," this ruling aligns perfectly with my "morals/values/beliefs." It's always interesting how "hack" justices are "mak[ing] law from the bench" when their rulings go against conservative ideology, but they're praised for sober and responsible jurisprudence when their rulings go the other way. A "strict constructionist" like Scalia should be able to see the hypocrisy in that, though personally I doubt he would. The "legislating from the bench" argument cuts both ways, and you should be careful how you use it. In the meantime, please explain how gay m
  14. He's a friend of my brother, and by all accounts a great guy.
  15. Let's see how many different ways people can say "yes."
  16. I think the loudness of commercials has a lot to do with audio compression, but I may be talking out of my ass.
  17. I'd like to think you're correct about $140-150, but it's The Beatles ... they can charge a premium and people will pay. As for mono vs. stereo, I personally haven't dug very deeply into this, but I seem to remember a lot of the early stereo mixes to be pretty bizarre in terms of separation, which meant that the mono mixes could actually be more listenable (depending on your tastes, I guess).
  18. Not that I've seen. I'm guessing the stereo box will be in the neighborhood of $200, possibly more.
  19. That's the impression I got too. It's still what, five months away? I guess I'll wait and see.
