Well the oppressive system I'm under says that if you're exceptional at something and subsequently make something of it, you can have great financial success. if someone writes a song on par with "Yesterday", "Hey Jude", or "Let It Be", that person is an exceptional songwriter and i'd hope that they'd be financially sound. If they wrote three songs as good, I'd expect them to be rich or if not, robbed.

Sure, I wouldn't pay more than $50 to see Macca, but if any musician deserves to be a billionaire, he's my pick. His music has probably entertained more than a billion people.

snuck that one by me, but to only see it once has to be a record for a sell-out thread. now why am i considering McCartney's divorce on whether or not Sigur Ros has a point about music in commercials? please don't mention healthcare

so the VW campaign has brought more fans to Wilco but has somehow decreased their relevancy.

i spent a good chunk of time yesterday making a Mii version of the Burger King to send to the 'Check Mii Out!' area, because i felt the current kings present didn't bear enough resemblance. -

i'll give them credit that they got the crowd into a frenzy, but i second that Regine was obnoxious, really mugging for the camera. also, how excited can one get playing a tambourine? it seemed that the members freaking out onstage were contributing the least musically to the song...but i guess responsibility is spread thin when you have twenty hands. two of the songs they played sounded very samey to me, so much that i could hum the first one over the second and it fit perfectly. they also bang on a drum or whatever they're holding and sing/scream altogether a lot. other than that, it was goo

i don't think anyone's mentioned this yet, but London Calling is a real good one. Beck's Guero is also very good on the road, i barely play it anywhere but my car.

Yes, there are more depressing bands out there both in subject matter and in popularity. but of your more-depressing list, i don't think they match the "world is fucked up/ending/hopeless" vibe that Radiohead gives. Pink Moon might be the most melancholic album ever, but Drake's looking inward, while Thom seems to be looking around and not liking it much. Also, Bryter Layter has songs that are downright bouncy and light. Radiohead isn't one-note, but they lay on the gloom thick, so the complaint might not be if they're a bummer but how.

I'm really looking forward to that.

It's understandable to be turned off by Coyne's voice, but the Lips aren't a Floyd knockoff...at least not all the time. As for Thom, i don't mind his voice but his lyrics sometimes are a turn off...and the music his band plays.
