  1. maybe so, but I didn't see 24 track analog capability on the metro mobile site. I could've read it wrong, though.
  2. Given that one blurb about the cd elsewhere says it was recorded on 24 track, I'd say yes it was a digital recording. 24 track mobile analog setup would be super crazy sick and expensive, if such a thing exists.
  3. The band seemed really down on KT at this interview. Wonder if they feel the same now? http://gettingintune.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html These are the guys who recorded it. Equipment may have changed some since that time, though. http://www.mobilerecording.com/index.html
  4. While I agree there are better versions of individual songs around, and that there is probably even a show that has an overall better performance than what is on KT, none of those are on vinyl and none I've heard sound as good as the KT cd does. So putting vinyl together with a professionally recorded good Wilco performance is plenty enough for me to get excited about. Just preordered mine. T minus 2 days for Wilco in Savannah!
  5. I've thought about this before, but not with as much in depth. Reviewing the ten commandments wiki, I think it's unquestionably the Anglican version. The "steal a look at number 8" and "what better way to procreate" don't add up together to me, but maybe he's just moving along to number 7 about no adultery, which is continued in the next lines. Everything else lines up to me.
  6. Well I think we have enough 3 year old offspring to have our own band. My 3 year old daughter will rock out and dance like a madman at times. Early Beatles and Daft Punk often elicit a good reaction. She's fascinated by robots and besides the Daft Punk, she'll get into some Lips' Yoshimi and Grandaddy's Sophtware Slump, although she gets a little tearful over Jed the humanoid. Kevin Russell's Somebody Bring Me a Flower" is also a favorite.
  7. don't know about the best, but you sure can get your fill of beatle's talk over at the steve hoffman forum http://www.stevehoffman.tv/forums/index.php
  8. I agree, the Being There lps may be the best versions yet. I've been happy with all three of the reissue pressings. Too bad Kicking Television isn't gonna get a vinyl release any time soon. That would be awesome. I've yet to try out any of the included cds, they may just sit on the shelf indefinitely.
  9. definitely a top album for me this year, also. too bad I saw Neko before Jason hopped on the tour this year. "It's the Weekend" is one lyrically deficient song but I love it. "Ghost of My Old Dog" is probably my favorite but there are some great tracks on here all around.
  10. Just got a ticket for their show in N.C. as I'll be passing through that night. I'm very excited as it will be my first time seeing them. I didn't get into them until the last album but quickly went back and picked up a few earlier albums. I went out to pick up the There Is No Enemy on vinyl today but the two stores I went to didn't have it. Anyone pick the lp up yet?
  11. People like it. People don't like it. People get offended. Same old same old. If it wasn't so late on the east coast I'd throw it on again and either enjoy it or get really pissed. Can't decide which would happen, but likely the latter. Different strokes...etc,etc.
  12. Mine was ok in that regards but lp 1 is slightly warped. Plays well, though. Got it from Music Direct. Funny thing is I had the exact problem with what must've been the 2nd or 3rd pressing of Being There, but that would've been pressed domestically unlike the new releases. Replaced it with , imo, the unlistenable import lp from a couple of years ago.
  13. I agree. Last time I listened to it I actually got mad. Don't know if I just wasn't in the mood for it at the time or what, but I haven't listened to it again in nearly a month. Guess it's about time to try it again.
  14. Thanks for the heads up. I love the low -dirty three fishtank lp. I will definitely be picking this up.
  15. The most recent lp is pretty good, I like the 2nd side better than the first. It's definitely in the vein of their previous 2 lps, so lovers of earlier mercury rev take caution.
  16. Vinyl has been a godsend in this world of technology overload. It requires me to sit and listen to an album or at least a side. I may surf the net or read a mag sometimes then I find myself not really enjoying what i just heard. If I put away the laptop, turn down the lights and really listen, I often find albums that I've heard tens of times or more to be so much more fulfilling and entertaining. Some albums I'll only listen to this way, such as the Fleet Foxes or Iron and Wine's Shepherd's Dog. Realy helped me get int teh latest Wilco lp, to, which I've warmed up to some by really listening
  17. I never knew much about him until that collaboration he did with Sonic Boom came out last year or so. then I went and looked up his website and it's amazing how many songs and albums he played on or produced that I like, and the variety is mind boggling. http://www.zebraranch.com/index.htm
  18. say that reminds me, many of the Lost Highway releases have been hit and miss regarding their vinyl quality. I've actually had good luck but there are tons of stories about how bad the Nasheville pressing plant is that they use. They had to recall that last Shelby Lynne album as the first pressing was getting returned by customers at a very high rate.
  19. Iron and Wine - Shepherd's Dog vinyl sounds real nice. Sounds like Sam's sitting in your living room. The Band of Horses lps sound much better than their cd counterparts. Fleet Foxes vinyl is nice, as is the latest Sonic Youth. It's easier to point out a few labels to avoid in general, some of the titles may be ok but they have more bad sounding releases than good ones. Those would include 4 Men with a Beard, Simply Vinyl, and the Back To Black reissues.
  20. 1. First Concert, when? cheap trick-charlotte 1981 2. First Concert you really wanted to go to and did? same 3. Favorite Band? this is a wilco board, no? 4. 21. comcast on demand has a later with jools holland with sky blue sky era wilco running this month on concert.tv, also with lcd soundsystem. their high def section has an older later with jools show with yhf era 4 piece wilco doing war on war and i'm the man... jools was none too happy with i'm the man, which makes it all the better! they rocked. and in non wilco shows on concert.tv there is dino jr on hd and new pornographers and deerhunter on standard. and some other cool stuff. i have no ties with comcast and think they're the devil, like the great buck howard thinks jay leno is the devil.
  22. yet, I don't remember them doing the same when I saw them in Seattle a few months later. mIght've missed it but does anybody remember them doing it post- Bennett?
  23. I've been slagging this lp on a few forums and maybe I was little harsh but I think the reason is there are a few songs, You and I and Everlasting Everything that I absolutely hate. Not a dislike or indifference, but I find them really crappy songs. I hate it, as their sentiment is in the right place, but they have to be in the top 5 worst Wilco songs ever. Maudlin, may be the correct term. There are some growers on the album though, Sonny Feeing being one. I like the majority of side one and the vinyl fidelity is good, not great. Compared to the cd, it's miles ahead, probably the greatest
