  1. talked to a friend wed night and they sold out the second night at the music farm as well. just answering my own question in case anyone else was wondering.
  2. apologies if this was posted previously but we watched the movie king of california dvd last night starring michael douglas and evan rachel wood. anyways, "california stars" is the closing song and i can't think of a better use of that song in a movie. the movie's pretty good, too, just not for those who require a fast pace.
  3. they do! i live in downtown charleston, sc. if i go out to get the paper in the morning i best be dressed as there's bound to be a carriage full of tourists gawking at me. freaked my sister in law out when she house sat for us one time. but at least they're not ringing the doorbell.... wait a minute, there was this one couple who came by and their great great great grandad, or some such, built the house we reside in and they wanted a look see. we were on the way out the door and told them it'd have to be some other time. well, a year later they call and come over and we show them around and
  4. 1060 West Addison Street (i thought y'all were supposed to give out this address.)
  5. "my blue wave" off of is a woman is one of my favorite songs. it can give you a lump in your throat if you don't look out.
  6. i blame slobberbone and the drive by truckers as well as tasty world in athens for my tinnitus. i think i chipped a tooth that night also. anyways, i've been an etymotic user for 4-5 years now and they really do work. hell, i just stood in front of the PA at a jucifer show saturday and no extra ringing afterwards. in fact i haven't noticed any worsening of my ringing since i've routinely worn these for shows. another plus is that if you're at a show with a noisy audience it will get rid of most of the background talking and let you concentrate on the show but you can still hear someone if t

  8. no, not the very front row. it was like second row of the main seats, so about 5th row overall. kind of a treat to see the band up close like that nowadays . it'll be a little low down there but your head will be above the stage level at least. that is if'n you're not a little person.
  9. from pitchfork: "As previously reported, former Rogue Wave bassist and Magnolia Electric Co. touring member Evan Farrell died late last year in an Oakland apartment fire. Farrell's untimely passing has weighed heavily on many, and none so much as the wife and two children the beloved musician left behind. Several big names have stepped forward to help the Farrell family by contributing unique items to a benefit auction hosted by friends of Evan. Among the goods available now on eBay for bidders: a signed copy of Thom Yorke's The Eraser, a printer's proof for the New Pornographers' Challeng
  10. you know it! although i'm not up front like last time. you coming down? didn't see it on your upcoming wilcorama experience in the other thread?
  11. the lp, and possibly the cd, are oop. they were a limited release to start with.
  12. how crowded was that second show? i was so squashed by the first show i decided to skip the second one.
  13. i thought that was very nice of his wife to send those emails out. i like the idea of a memorial tree.
  14. philly, charleston twice, seattle, austin, asheville, myrtle beach, nyc=8 times total
  15. i hope to have to never hear billy bragg sing ever again. as wilco and bragg really didn't get along i see this happening after a UT reunion, which happens after the original son volt line up gets back together again, which happens after ken returns to drum for wilco.
  16. i did do some trades a couple of years back on here that were great. she was just a newbie trader is all.
  17. i tried doing a b&p post through via chicago last year with terrible results, gaps in between songs and second cd wasn't finalized. the trader was oblivious to the issues after being emailed and didn't know how to fix the issues. noone else even resonded to my request for a trade at the time. (a few days later i did get an offer for some neil young trades.) i don't do bit torrent sites due to their ties with illegal downloading and the virus possibility. i may be off based on these two thoughts but i'm not very comfortable with having someone pull stuff off of my computer, either. how
  18. i'm not as swell on damaged but i'd suggest what another man spills, is a woman, nixon, and thriller in that order. glad to see some love for the 'chop here. i've been a fan since what another man spills came out. great to see live as well. that ylt/lambchop show in knoxville was the best i saw last year.
  19. where are the seats? i've got a friend who's miffed at me becasue i bought tix for a few others and didn't include him.
  20. i think the couple in question was making out for a few songs and he told them to get a room. jeff went off on a minor rant but from the recording i thought he was joking about it. (i think this what the original poster was referring to but maybe i'm wrong.)
  21. that happened to me with this charleston show. didn't find it for over a year. i highly recommend it http://www.archive.org/details/radams2006-...ost-matrix.flac
  22. two cow garage - III (for those who lie to rock, toured with the dbt's before i believe) dead confederate ep (for mmj fans) http://www.myspace.com/deadconfederate i'll give second recs for slobberbone and their followup band , the drams (the drams album is like summerteeth with the instrumentation/production of AM or Being There) band of horses -i really like both of their albums, a more laid back alternative to mmj. patty hurst shifter - (great rock from the south) http://www.myspace.com/pattyhurstshifter i listen to that new iron and wine lp a lot, as in right now.
  23. especially the live version from chicago july 4th show at the end of jb's tenure. one of my favorites to crank up loud.
  24. i wouldn't bank on any microbrews at sportz. probably could get a bass or newcastle and maybe a guinness, probably in a can.
