Tweedy's participation in Golden Smog
LouisvilleGreg replied to southern hotel foxtrot's topic in Just A Fan
"A Long Time Ago" from "Another Fine Day," is a Tweedy vocal and is absolutely beautiful. He also sings a Kinks cover and shares vocal duties with Gary on a third track. On Golden Smog & Blood on the Slacks are eps, he has participated in all three lps, though quite a bit less on the most recent. The first two are absoulte must haves, and Another Fine Day a little less so. -

Well I guess somebody from Kentucky has to represent. Go HillToppers and gulp Cardinals!

Duke dodged a major bullet and they know it. They looked defeated even after the game. They are a total fraud and I look for them to go down to West Virginia on Saturday.

Well at least Joe Craford played his ass off for Kentucky. Considering two of their top players have been out for long periods I think Kentucky really overachieved. Fifteen years ago I would be breaking something after an NCAA exit, but I'm proud that they even made it this far. I guess I'm rooting for Louisville now.

I just got back from an excellent NIT game here in Richmond between Alabama-Birmingham who nearly beat Memphis this year and VCU, last year's NCAA Duke killers. UAB won 80-77 despite a fierce VCU comeback and a missed 3 at the buzzer that would've sent the game into overtime. Great crowd, high intensity game. A nice warm up for the big show. Kentucky's up at 2:30. That means I'll be taking off work, locking myself in my room with explicit instructions not too be disturbed, and turning off the phone. 100% focus. I'll be sending out some heavy vibes to my boys.

Just finished loading brackets onto half a dozen sites, this one included. Some for moolah, some for fun. Leaving work early for KY's game on Thursday. In high school in Kentucky when Louisville, Kentucky or Indiana would play during the daytime in the first round, we would always get to watch the games in school during the second half of the day. Lots and lots of others would just skip altogether to stay home and watch. Big time culture around all 3 of those teams when I was in high school late 80's - early 90's.

Yeah it was played more than once. I think three times. It just looks like everyone's looking around cheering one anotehr on. It could be an given encore moment. I should be able to tell based upon what shirt I'm wearing, but I think I've lost track of that now. Oh yeah and GO Wildcats!

Job well done! Thanks for helping relive some great memories.

Whew! I just went through all of them. There were some truly gifted photographers documenting this momentus event. A few more really good crowd shots in there somewhere in the low 200's. They look like they were taken during "Peaches." I saw you front and center Edie. Thanks for the heads up.

I'll be picking up the vinyl and cd at Plan 9 records in Richmond one week from tomorrow. I think they way they've gone about all of this is very admirable. Can you imagine If Wilco were to give a one week heads up that a new album was being released. Very cool.

Here's a link to a pretty good Stevie Van Zant interview in Rolling Stone. He really wants the E Street Band to play "Held up Wihout A Gun," and I for one wanna be there when they do. http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/195...ic_news_rssfeed

I feel for you there my friend. Both of our teams got struck by a thunderbolt in Georgia. they played like they were posessed. I mean they were absolutely abyssmal in the regular season. And while I'm at it, damn that's a tough first round matchup. good luck.
-
Yeah that was tense. I feel pretty good about the Marquette matchup.
-
Is Georgia for real or what? How do they have any legs left. They are a frickin' 500 team and are up 15 on Arkansas. Pretty unbelievable.
-
Or like the Clash in the end without Mick Jones.

I like this description of Jay in this article: "this sweethearted man of big frame and greasy hair" Is that supposed to be flattering?

New My Morning Jacket Album!!!

"I Will Be There When You Die," just destroys me. Jim's voice is just perfect on that one. One of these days I'll see him solo. -
Holy crap I never noticed that Bob Seger wrote that. That sort of bums me out a little bit.
-
C'mon Clemson. 20 minutes away from pulling off the Duke NC exacta. That sure would be cool.
-
Had Ohio State won the championship game last year I'd be $500 richer. It was my best bracket ever, but it was winner take all and I didn't get a dime for second.
-
You did nothing. I mean freakin' John Pelphry is a god to Kentucky fans. I still have nightmares about the Duke Kentucky game in '92 that ended the careers of Pelphry, Richie Farmer, Sean Woods and Deron Feldhaus. We could win 15 championships, but it'll never be enough to erase that game. So yeah I'm rooting for him, but Georgia being sub-500 and playing those two games yesterday was pretty amazing. I'm sure Arkansas will win, but if Georgia were to win, both teams would get in to the big tournament. Have a great game.

What a brilliant day of college basketball. The SEC tournament is absolutely insane. The Kentucky non call on the charge at the end of the Georgia game really sucked, but Georgia played with tremendous heart in both games, wow. Arkansas is rolling, what a finish in that one. But I gotta go with Georgia tomorrow, seeing that Arkansas is now a lock, I'd like to see Georgia pull out the improbable. I thought VA Tech had UNC beat, but of course that big ass white boy was gonna make that shot. Better enjoy it now Hansbrough because you'll never be more than a twelfth man in the NBA. Clemson made me

Funny timing this thread. I woke up this morning with "Rosalie" off of "Fighting" in my head. i've probably listened to it 4 or 5 times today. "She's got the power / I've got the power." Sweet, sweet tune. Does anyone else hear "Impossible Germany" being influenced by Thin Lizzy? Listen to the guitar work on "the Wild One," for comparison.
