Does Desmond's ability to "foresee" the future mean that he knows the ultimate fate of the island?

I was contacted by Boston-based Illumina Records to have one of my songs included on one of their compilation CDs. I was just wondering if any fellow VCers know of this label or Rock 4 Life or anything. The short of it is that they release compilation albums to increase awareness of drunk driving and use music to spread the word. Any additional info would be great. Seems like a cool thing to be part of. If this belongs in another forum, please feel free to move it.

Sort of related - I think John used flatwound bass strings on some of the AGIB recordings.

I agree. I'm surprised at what songs were chosen, given the available list. Thanks for additional info above.

How does the taping of that show work? Do they have both bands? I would be kinda bummed to go see Wilco and only hear 5 songs or so.

I think I was the one who started that thread. The person's name you are referring to is Charles Harris. You can go the his Wilco pictures here.

That's what I was thinking. It seems like, given what we have learned, the root of the science surrounding at least some of the Dharma Initiative wasn't all bad. The thing I just don't understand is the willingness of the Others to kill people. I also heard a rumor that the monster on the island is able to manifest itself as other beings. That would (sort of) explain some of the apparitions we have seen: Jack's Dad, Kate's horse, and also may present the case for the Others being manifestations and not actual humans.

The font is called Pyrite. That's a good starting place. I don't have time to do any more non-work work, as I wasted my day on that Intelligence Test.

I really don't know what to think of Bush anymore. I mean, I really don't like him and I don't understand how anyone could. It seems like just when I think he couldn't screw up anymore...he finds a way to do so. I don't understand how you can possess the thoughts to go against the grain of the American public in the way he has. As it's been said, people showed how they felt last November. I do not understand how a person like George Bush goes about his business and neglects all that is going on around him. Cutting funding for education?!? Cancer research?!? Are you out of your mind? I don't think there is one type of string for every guitar. I've played for 15 years and I couldn't say one brand or type is the best. I have a mahogany top Martin, and have had Elixir Nanoweb on there forever. I was convinced that this was the best string in the world. Then I got a Gibson J45 and it sounded like hell with the same type of strings. I switched to D'addario phosphor bronze on the Gibson, which gave it a nice "woody" sound. Still, the Martin sounds best with the Elixirs and not good with the D'addarios. So, it truly depends on your type of guitar. Maybe go to the store and see wh

That, and the fact that most of his guitar's cost more than a lot of people's cars....I don't know what kind of instrument you are playing, but that could have a lot to do with it. If you have a $150 guitar, I don't know how possible it is to mimic the sound of a pre-war Martin or vintage Gibson. Perhaps take your guitar to your local store, have the luthier take a look at it and tell him what you're going for and what his advice on strings would be.

Not likely. The design of a steel string guitar is such that a considerably higher amount of tension is put on the strings than on a typical nylon string guitar. I tried to do this once and all of the nylon strings popped as I was trying to tighten them. Conversly, if you put steel strings on a nylon string guitar you can fold the neck. Try different types of strings. I went from Elixirs to D'addario Phosphor Bronze and it gave me a much darker sound I was looking for.

I just went thru the second season of 24 this weekend. I can feel much more TV time in my near future, as well as upping my Netflix rental amounts.

My father, on the halftime show: "It's just noise. I could get stand up there and make noise. Put the game on." Classic. I thought the addition of the foo fighters was a nice, albeit odd, touch.

So, does your guys' ISP ever say anything to you about the downloading and uploading of such content?

I was just kidding about the Billy Bragg thing. I thought it would ruffle your feathers.

Aside from Analogman's info, I think there is a link either on the Netflix homepage or within the "Your Account" area that said something like, "Want to watch movies on your computer?" or something along those lines and said it would be available starting in June.

They had better end it next season.
