Was there a throw down? Would of liked to seen that Sleater-Kinney show - it was tough ticket to get - at least that's what I heard - I really didn't try to get one. Listened to that JRAD show that Lammycat went to - it was a good one - esp that China Cat-> GDTRFB that was mentioned.

As long as they rehearse all the songs they plan to play - guess it doesn't matter if they don't know what song the are going to play. Does anyone know anyone who mail ordered and still waiting on a response. Heard from a couple who got rejected (and all was filled out right) - couple who not heard either way. Really hoping I get lucky on the day of sale - regardless, I am sure they will be shown on the web --- If they can pull off showing it at movie theaters, bars, or clubs, that would be even more fun. I am sure most of you already seen the article, but below is WSJ link about the mai

It's true: 'street cats making love' are annoying. Hell, all cats doing or making anything are annoying.

The First Great Song You Heard in Concert
calvino replied to roadhse ma's topic in Someone Else's Song
I guess 'Paper in Fire' by Mellencamp in 87 - the opener at my first concert. Hell of a show and tune. -
The Winter of our Discontent er of Snow in the NE

That's insane --- best of luck to you people. Glad to be living in 'balmy, some-what-snow-free' Chicago area. -
Listened to the 2/12/86 show this a.m. -- fun, quick show. Garcia's voice is a bit rough, though. The Neville Brothers added a lot in the 2nd set. https://archive.org/details/gd1986-02-12.sbd.miller.81517.flac16

I really have to be in the mood for them -- I need to pull out their stuff soon - it's been a while.

As I started to read this I thought your were going to end with: "I'm going to cut you into little pieces" The below is one of Jagger/Richards better ones: The sunshine bores the daylights out of me. Chasing shadows moonlight mystery.

It is a good one. Really enjoy the Gotta Serve Somebody cover.

CBS - my rabbit ears couldn't pick it up, either.

Definitely -- love hearing it live -- I just block the cheesy lyrics.

You have to lose You have to learn how to die If you want to want to be alive always makes me want to say 'puleeze' (that expression annoys me, too - which makes it even more frustrating) - love the music/melody of the tune, though...

Listened to it last night --- did get boring, though the music is great - it gets monotonous. His vocals and delivery are also great. I am not familiar with many of these tunes, some of the lyrics are rather good. I guess the version of That Lucky Sun is more like the original, which I never heard, before --- a lot different than Garcia's take.

Full AARP interview is out. http://www.aarp.org/entertainment/style-trends/info-2015/bob-dylan-aarp-the-magazine-full-interview.html Picked up the disc at a Best Buy while at lunch; after I visit with my drug dealer, I will give it a listen tonight. The below is taken from the NYT review -- it pretty much sums up Dylan's performance of Stay With Me when I saw it in Chicago, last year. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/03/arts/music/releases-from-bob-dylan-and-diana-krall.html?_r=0

I haven't received mine - yet - probably has something to do with the blizzard over the weekend...

I don't think Melvin sings, though --- much better player than Vince, though.

At least he admitted his mistake with great humility (of course under lots of pressure) -- but I agree, dumb lawsuit --- I enjoy the way this thread turned, since I won't be going to Solid Sound - can't wait for some of these beers hit the Chicago market (or I need to head east some day - never been any reason to go before).

Never did catch a JGB show - much to my dismay. Listened to the Joe Russo's Almost Dead shows from 09/19/2014 & 09/20/2014 at Concord Music Hall, Chicago, IL this morning --- really good stuff, wish I would have made the shows. I was never much a fan of Benevento/Russo duo when they use to perform on a regular basis, so I never paid much attention to their Almost Dead shows before today. https://archive.org/details/jrad2014-09-20.cmc621.sbd.matrix.flac16 https://archive.org/details/jrad2014-09-19.cmc621.sbd.matrix.flac16

My wife's friend bought her a ticket to a show at small theater in Chicago - it was around Jan,2014 - she knew nothing about them prior to the show - she said it was a great, great show. They ran into the band before the show in front of the theater and had a nice chat.

Yeah -- if all three shows sell out instantly and they add two shows, say two days later (Tues/Wed) - I don't think too many people would complain. The stage is set up - all the people are in town, etc. The city has been great with big crowds - for the most part - hopefully that will continue - it's going to be a very busy weekend for sure - all over the city.
-
It seems like that Peter Shapiro knows what he is doing, with regards to this Soldier Field shows. Would be interesting if they add more shows at Soldier Field.

Yeah, me too.

Wilco is still pretty good. This board has turned me onto The War on Drugs - they are good, wouldn't mind catching them live at some point. I can take small doses of St. Vincent - her music is kinda of interesting and she is a hoot to watch perform (only saw her via video streams). Lot's of great new jazz is still being performed and put out - but that's not everybody's cup of tea.
