  1. Yeah --- after I hear both, I may have a different opinion. I kinda know what I am getting with the Basement Tapes, though --- the Basement Tapes never has appealed to me as much as his other output. I don't have any illusions the standards set is going to be better the Basement Tapes, though - but it's something new and different from him. Hell over the past couple of years, I have listened to Dylan's Christmas album more than I have his Basement Tapes or A Tree with Roots. I do love playing the Basement Tape songs on guitar though---mostly because they are easy and fun to play/sing.
  2. I am probably the only Dylan fan who looks more forward to the hear to the Shadows in the Night record then I am the Basement Tape release -- which I am a still on the wait-list for the 2 disc set from the library.
  3. I am assuming his touring band will be backing him -- which is a good thing. Nice to see that it was done live, too. Their take on Stay With Me was really something in a live setting. Always loved That Lucky Old Sun. Threw on his Christmas CD on the way to cut down our Christmas tree this past weekend -- my five year old was disappointed that he didn't cover Jingle Bells.
  4. I think Friday was the first time since 99 or so that I was at Riv' Wilco show and I wasn't part of a taping crew --- it was nice to be 10' dead center from the stage.
  5. Sorry to hear -- the stream of the show also helped out a friend of my wife's, she lost a very close friend earlier in the day ---- nothing beats the power of music... As my wife wrote her last night - the show is "a sonic shoulder" to lean on.
  6. They do have a coat check - it's down in the basement, I believe.
  7. Thanks --- now that's a name for an instrument.
  8. Nels on dobro and Pat, banjo - sounds great. Plus Mikael on the little mouth tube through to keyboard --- not sure what they call it.
  9. Haven't heard that (Dark Neon) live before . Nice. Red Eye and I Got You - I still always think of Bennett when I hear them.
  10. I am listening to it on an old fashion radio - well at least an actual FM signal - sounds nice - John sounds great.
  11. And right into At My Window Sad and Lonely - very nice.
  12. Nice to be at last night's show hearing that version and now hearing this.
  13. Read that Ian McLagan was about to open some shows for Nick Lowe before he passed - was he supposed to be on the OTSoFM bill, too? (Just checked - he was - all the times Mac passed through Chicago and all the times I didn't go see him, definitely sucks.) (Also, nice week of shows, there.)
  14. The Art of Almost was nice, as was the Camera - loved John's 8 String bass- between that and Nels' guitar, it was very Spinal Tappish. Sounded great. The Camera was well placed, too - the On and On and On was perfect. As noted by Tweedy - it was weird/different seeing him sing without a guitar so much last night.
  15. I think the Soldier Field gig was in the parking lot - could be wrong though.
  16. Now that links states that he passed away - fuck sake.--- another Stones connection, too. Sucks, indeed.
  17. Plus Mick and Keith were coming off their feud, so to speak, in 89 -- so you had your Keith camp and Mick camp - obviously Keys was in Keith's camp. I don't think there was much crossing over.
  18. Listening to the Let it Bleed record again this evening, so I could listen to Keys on Live with Me -- my favorite solo of his on a Stones song. What a great record. Nice obit from the NY Times http://www.nytimes.com/2014/12/03/arts/music/bobby-keys-saxophonist-for-rolling-stones-dies-at-70-.html?_r=0
  19. Heard that Bobby Keys passed away today - read that he was ill a few months ago. He definitely found his niche within the Stones, it's amazing that he lasted so long within the origination, I guess it had a lot to do with his relationship with Keith. He was a good player, though - too.
  20. One of the lawyers in T.P's linked piece is a good friend of my wife and I --- it is a f'd up system in that area and I assume this type of policy is in place through out the country. I have a brother-in-law who is attorney working for the St. Louis Circuit Attorney's office - he doesn't deal with this side of thing (he goes after deadbeat parents) , but he agrees the whole system is a mess , with regards to race and the legal system in St. Louis. We celebrated our Thanksgiving down in So. Illinois this past weekend --- it wasn't pleasant - anybody who thinks racism isn't an issue anymore
  21. I thought that was Jim Carey in the picture at first. Cool concept for a doc.
  22. To end a three night run with a cover, with the hope of your audience to sing it all by themselves --- takes huge guts and faith and respect in your audience. I not sure how many bands would do this. Listening to the audience recording was really something when I first heard it.
  23. That was really good --- picked up that douple EP yesterday --- only 8.99 can't beat that.
  24. For some reason my five year old always wants to watch the Avant Gardener video on our Roku. It is a good tune, need to check out the rest of her stuff. Just checked out her web-site --- you can doodle/color on it ---- no wonder why my five year old digs her. http://viewtoagig.courtneybarnett.com.au/
