I have always enjoyed Brent's studio versions of his tunes more than the live versions - esp. Blow Away, where the live versions I heard on tape or saw on video never appealed to me, but I enjoy the studio version. . Though, if I witness more Brent shows, I may have a different opinion - I only saw two - the first one, he didn't sing any of his tunes and the second was his last - I don't think 'Never Trust a Woman' is a good song.

I watched the Richards' segment but turned it off and forgot to go back to watch the Replacements' segment - thanks for the link.

I think vocals during some of the 74 shows were affected by the microphones used. http://dozin.com/wallofsound/

Lockn' Festival. Arrington VA. Sept. 6th

I know Mickey Raphael sat in with them on 9/7/14. He played on Give Back the Key to my Heart. -
I went the opposite this morning and listened to: Grateful Dead Live at Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center on 1985-09-10 (September 10, 1985) Some of these mid-80's shows are over so, so quick --- esp. the above. Okay show, never heard it before. Guess Weir was climbing the scaffolds during Sugar Magnolia. Now onto 9.10.83.

Well, I didn't think I would cross off "walking my daughter down the aisle" from my father/daughter list so soon --- little bugger wouldn't go unless I went with her......
-
Well that was a nice set.

Nephew's wedding --- my 2 1/2 year old daughter is the flower girl -- should be fun.

Fresh Air had a nice review of the record on yesterday's show. I only have their Twin Cinema release - need to check this new one out.

Reckless has a nice website -- just before you leave from Europe - you can see what they currently have in stock, click any items you may want and click "in-store" pick up, and they will hold them for you. Also like Heartbreak said, they can probably order anything they don't have in stock. I know I have seen the below used in their stores.

Looks like he was the one who filed, too.

From the Chicago perspective your best bet will be a used record store - like a Reckless Records or perhaps Laurie's Planet of Sound in Lincoln Sqaure may have some stuff. Sadly, there are not too many record stores left. There are some big box stores like Best Buy, that may have newer releases --- but even there, it's spotty at best. I don't think you will have much luck finding box sets in Chicago --- could be wrong though. I think all the Dave's Picks and Big Box Sets (like the 90 one) are mostly available via Dead.net.

I heard the local gov't was trying to block their liquor license - glad they didn't succeed. Though a alcohol free fest might be interesting.

Did the Fest every figure out their liquor license issue?

How do you feel about musicians reading lyrics on stage?
calvino replied to lamradio's topic in Solid State Technology
I seen performers with teleprompters blow lyrics. Teleprompters/notebooks don't bother me. What's up with your lead singer - not very cool backing out of a gig. -
I'll wait for it to hit the library system. Last night I listened to a Rolling Thunder boot (New Orleans 5/3/76) --- T Bone sang a fantastically, awful version of Werewolves of London. Traveling around on that tour must have been a trip.
-
You guys have been a bit slow down there - only spotted two boots thus far (8/9 and 8/10).
-
Not sure if I caught 'Live Love' or not --- the vocals are their strong suit --- playing, too, though.
-
Yeah we made it there --- I was by the stage area (towards the back) from the start up to the point where they played Squeeze Box, then we all went to the park area and kid's tent. It was entertaining - it looked like the guy who played electric guitar in the Brown Eye video (and played some great licks) was playing bass, yesterday. I was hoping for some of that guitar playing --- but I guess it being a festival they went all acoustic (with the exception of the bass). Food was good, too.

Did tune in and heard the crosstalk between you and Rosie before the two Dylan Tunes - that Wanda Jacksons' Thunder was a great version (never heard that one before), also the Staples Singers version of Hard Rain (though I think I heard that before). I chuckled when you put Rosie on the spot regarding WDBX's phone number.

That sucks - hope all is well enough and not too,too bad. Was really looking forward to the St. Louis show.

Below is another site regarding Garcia's gear and such--I don't think I ever been to this site before today - pretty extensive. http://www.wald-electronics.com/

Yeah - that Muscle Shoals was a good one. Always wondered why the Stones recorded at Muscle Shoals Studio, rather than the more established (at the time) and famous Fame, I posted the question at the Hoffman board and below was the response. Makes sense - Rick Hall was bit of a task master to say the least --- which I am not faulting him - he produced some great stuff.
