My wife saw that --- interesting, didn't hear about the Red Bull event.

I was part of a Zorn (with Masada) Q and A - once - he came off as dick - the rest of the (Douglas, Cohen, and Baron) were all great. Actually Douglas seemed uncomfortable sitting next to Zorn. (Zorn did just got into town minutes before the event, which was in Chicago, so maybe that's why he was cranky). Great musical performance, though, afterwards. This was right before he won the MacArthur Fellow -- so he might have been still pissy that Vandermark got one before he did. I had to Google the year of the performance and came across the below Pitchfork review http://pitchfork.com/feat

I don't get any of it. Last week I got the Fillmore edition of Hittin the Note - nice interview with Bill Levenson about the recent reissue - he definitely put at great sound product. There was also an interview with Graham Nash about the 74 shows that was equally as good. It was my first time reading the zine - has some nice stuff in it.
-
Caught the last half the show --- the Berman interview was great, esp the bit about the brothers proposed speaking engagement at a Microsoft event.

Agree with Dave Douglas. Keeping up with Zorn's output will drive you batty - though Masada is a great place to start. I feel obliged to throw out some current groups/people on the Chicago scene, such as Ken Vandermark and Dave Rempis - who both started their labels somewhat recently. Delmark Records still produces/puts out some great records. Tortoise and Chicago Underground Duo, though not sure I would completely categorize them as jazz, are a great bands. Jason Adasiewicz, vibes player, is another one that is putting out some great music. Atomic, from Norway/Sweden, is another

I don't think I will ever understand the importance of any of this stuff... Listened to the final show this past weekend, other than the Midnight Rider, which was a bit off sounding to me - all was played great. I was doing stuff around the house while listening, so I didn't listen too, too closely -- but it sounded great. I think that was the first time I heard Jaimoe speak. Those speeches at the end were a nice touch.

Only caught one of there shows in 2012 and it was fun. Much better then when I saw the Dead a few years previous. Guess this leaves open the possibility of some 50th Anv. shows.

I hate cars and talking about cars, but always enjoyed their show.

I guess the debate goes on forever.

Show is up on the Archive. https://archive.org/details/plf2014-11-01.461.bsc1.littlebox -
Got it --- I don't know how to burn 24 bit either -- I just plug in my hard drive to my OPPO player and play 24 bit stuff that way. I don't burn much music onto discs anymore. XM radio is replaying it today at noon (central time) - so I got plans for that. The XM feeds typically don't sound all that great, though.

Did you get the regular flac or the flac-hd? I am have not bought it, yet - curious to know if there is a noticeable difference.

At the very least, with the (I guess) demise of the Allman Brothers Band, I won't have to read about the whole Dickey vs. ABB crap anymore - it got old by the fall of 2000.

Guess they have a bit more songs - but yeah, definitely will be some overlaps. Are you making to all the shows, Lou? Rather amazing how time fly's and changes, after seeing (or trying to see) them play every time they play in the area throughout the years, we only plan to make 2 of the 6 this year. It's not like we wouldn't like to see all six, though --- it's just that there is a bit more on our plate these days( and we are more lazy ---- haven't wrote it lately, but 'god-damn kids' (kidding of course, for the most part). Definitely looking forward to the shows, esp after reading all the- 216 replies

I found myself in the same position. Incredible pitching performance.

Not sure if I ever read the Dark Star book (Greenfield's) - requested it through my library system.

Enjoy the drive.

Wonder if XM will be playing the whole show --- definitely will purchase the soundboard -- or at the very least will sign up for audience Vine --- the set list looks impressive.
-
Thanks --- I can see why - lot's of repeats. Looking forward to it. http://m.siriusxm.com/servlet/Satellite?childpagename=SXM/Utility/MOB_GetEpisodesInfo&packedargs=pgId=4405&prId=1081151&pagename=SXM/Wrapper

With regard to the Cream show go ahead send a PM - be happy to get it to you. Hell - me, you, and NoJ can start a Vine. It would be great to hear the event via Soundcloud.
-
Most certainly. Shoot me a PM, don't worry about blanks, I should be able to find some around the house.

The title suggests that it won't be any different. Of course he does have "Drumming" in it. I have never read any of Mickey Hart's books, but heard great things. I thought Phil's book was boring to. The best part of McNally's book were his 'Interludes' or what ever he called them. Blair Jackson's book on Garcia and his Gear book are probably my favorites, plus Gan's interview books.

How did it go last night -- -wasn't able to make it. Will the talk or performance be available on the web, by chance? And I forgot my apple (and banana) at home this morning.
