I guess we will see how long it will last - but I definitely agree with Rich: http://www.jambase.com/Articles/123765/Rich-Robinson-Announces-The-Black-Crowes-Have-Broken-Up

LED digital clock radio with analog AM/FM radio tuned to WXRT-Chicago - it's got to be 15 years old or so.
-
Yeah - it's got to be a day long event with multiple acts to even come close.

Speaking of books, I did read Greenfield's Dark Star last month --- it was depressing as all hell --- I almost stopped reading it, because from the 80's on, it was a pretty much a disaster (health-wise) for Garcia. The whole book is way too "tabloidy".

The rumor of having something at Soldier Field in Chicago is interesting -- I wouldn't travel to see any type of reunion, nor would I bother to see them at a shed or at a piss poor arena, but I may catch a show at Soldier Field (mostly because it right on my train line and about a 1/2 hour travel). A nice little day long festival might be fun.

Haven't gotten around to listen to the shows yet - but I thought "idiot girl" was amusing - thanks for taping and uploading.
-
For the first time - I just watched Mad Dogs n Englishmen on DVD ----I think it should have been billed Leon Russell and... Great doc ---- seeing all the Keys footage was great --- didn't seem Cocker wanted to be involved in this project, though - I'm sure the record company had lot's to say. Leon is even singing lead during the end credits - I think. Plus there should have been a better lead guitarist on stage ---- other than Leon.

If hard pressed -- I'd pick 1971 being my favorite Gratful Dead year.

I do too. Glad I finally saw them last year at Lollapalooza --- I don't think I have been around a more happy group of fans (at least in my area in the field) at a concert before - it was just a lot of damn fun - even during the morose tunes - just smiles all around.
-
One of these years I'll catch one of these --- though I have been saying that since about 1997.
-
Passed away today. Been re-watching Wonder Years via Netflix --- still bugs me that they had to put a fake version of Cocker's version of With a Little Help From my Friends. Still play that record quite bit - nice set of credits throughout that record. http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-30582761

Wilco — 12/5/14, Chicago, IL (Riviera Theatre) [Winterlude Night 1]

Opinions vary of course - but I like a great audience recording over a soundboard most times, esp at a show that I was at. You get more of a "room" feel. But to your Roadcase point - my friend who normally tape shows, decided not to tape Thursday's show, because he knew he just could buy the Roadcase. He just wanted to enjoy the show and not have to worry about taping. -

I didn't see any mic stands --- of course that doesn't mean it wasn't taped (via an audience member). -
Though not the best record of theirs - Rank from the Smiths is pretty rocking.

Not sure how the Playing book was laid-out - can't remember if I read it (I am sure I checked it out from a library at one point - I do recall the Playing book cover). I am guessing it will be like the ABB book. Gans' Conversations with the Dead is a good one.

That's cool - who signed it.

I downloaded the above show earlier in the year but haven't gotten around to listen to it, yet. Probably will tomorrow night. (I believe you wrote the write-up in the Taper book - if so, nice write-up) Listened to 12/14/71 - Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor, MI -- great, solid show.
-
Slow year for me - 3rd Night of Chicago's Dylan run is my top favorite, followed by Night 6 of the Winterlude and a Brötzmann, Drake, and Parker Trio show.
-
Enjoy his music, too --- he puts on a good live show -- Saw him open for Steve Earle once (he performed solo) and another time as a headliner with his band -- both were great. Good storyteller.

Both Gans and Jackson are my favorite two GD related writers/interviewers --- looking forward to the below book. http://cloudsurfing.gdhour.com/archives/8066 From Gans' blog:

I downloaded a boot of his recent Chicago concert - but I haven't listened to it, yet. Tickets were too steep for me, but it would have been cool to see him. Only have his Greatest Hits disc and a few live boots from the 70's - I play his Greatest Hits disc quite a bit - great sounding disc. -
Watching a bit of the below tonight -- nice companion piece to the past week. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7pY6UPPbVQ

Those shirts were $10 after the previous nights. Rock bottom prices. But your right - I remember boot shirts after a Stones show in 89 and at Dead shows throughout the late 80's and early 90's
