Definitely subdued - nice, though.

Read that Ian McLagan was about to open some shows for Nick Lowe before he passed - was he supposed to be on the OTSoFM bill, too? (Just checked - he was - all the times Mac passed through Chicago and all the times I didn't go see him, definitely sucks.) (Also, nice week of shows, there.)

Wilco — 12/5/14, Chicago, IL (Riviera Theatre) [Winterlude Night 1]
calvino replied to bböp's topic in After The Show
The Art of Almost was nice, as was the Camera - loved John's 8 String bass- between that and Nels' guitar, it was very Spinal Tappish. Sounded great. The Camera was well placed, too - the On and On and On was perfect. As noted by Tweedy - it was weird/different seeing him sing without a guitar so much last night. -
I think the Soldier Field gig was in the parking lot - could be wrong though.

Now that links states that he passed away - fuck sake.--- another Stones connection, too. Sucks, indeed.
-
Plus Mick and Keith were coming off their feud, so to speak, in 89 -- so you had your Keith camp and Mick camp - obviously Keys was in Keith's camp. I don't think there was much crossing over.

Listening to the Let it Bleed record again this evening, so I could listen to Keys on Live with Me -- my favorite solo of his on a Stones song. What a great record. Nice obit from the NY Times http://www.nytimes.com/2014/12/03/arts/music/bobby-keys-saxophonist-for-rolling-stones-dies-at-70-.html?_r=0

Heard that Bobby Keys passed away today - read that he was ill a few months ago. He definitely found his niche within the Stones, it's amazing that he lasted so long within the origination, I guess it had a lot to do with his relationship with Keith. He was a good player, though - too.

One of the lawyers in T.P's linked piece is a good friend of my wife and I --- it is a f'd up system in that area and I assume this type of policy is in place through out the country. I have a brother-in-law who is attorney working for the St. Louis Circuit Attorney's office - he doesn't deal with this side of thing (he goes after deadbeat parents) , but he agrees the whole system is a mess , with regards to race and the legal system in St. Louis. We celebrated our Thanksgiving down in So. Illinois this past weekend --- it wasn't pleasant - anybody who thinks racism isn't an issue anymore

I thought that was Jim Carey in the picture at first. Cool concept for a doc.

To end a three night run with a cover, with the hope of your audience to sing it all by themselves --- takes huge guts and faith and respect in your audience. I not sure how many bands would do this. Listening to the audience recording was really something when I first heard it.

That was really good --- picked up that douple EP yesterday --- only 8.99 can't beat that.

For some reason my five year old always wants to watch the Avant Gardener video on our Roku. It is a good tune, need to check out the rest of her stuff. Just checked out her web-site --- you can doodle/color on it ---- no wonder why my five year old digs her. http://viewtoagig.courtneybarnett.com.au/

The above states that Bennett was at the gig - I thought he joined later.

Joe Maddon managing the Cubs was a surprise to me. I guess extremely high $$ contracts don't surprise me anymore ---- I thought owners would have learned their lessons over the past 10 years or so - since many of these large $$ contracts haven't quite panned out. -
Yes - even pulled out a I Thought I Held You --- doubt they will play that again next month.

That's a good release, for sure.

Ford was on Fresh Air earlier this week - it was nice interview - need to check that book out.

Well at least it is better than Joel's version of 'Maybe I'm Amazed' --- it is pretty bad, though. Rolling Stone is streaming the whole record. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/stream-the-art-of-mccartney-featuring-bob-dylan-brian-wilson-kiss-20141112

Dylan definitely sang Stay with Me with much conviction - and I must say emotion - it was a really cool performance. Hopefully, he will be able to convey that on the upcoming record. Can't say I am really excited about the upcoming release, though.
-
He has been playing more recent material (or least the 90's and beyond stuff ). I enjoy the Christmas record --- it's a novelty for sure, but during the holidays it's a fun listen. The 'It Must Be Santa' video still cracks me up every time I watch it.
-
Monday was one of the better Dylan shows that I have seen in a while --- his performance/vocal on Stay with Me was pretty poignant. Stage was dark and shadowy as hell -- but it suited the music great.

Yeah - 90 was the Tinley -- it wasn't the best. I use to live in the next town over from Tinley --- the locals didn't take too kindly to the influx. The sound sucks there - so I am kinda glad they never came back.

Must have been 89 (for the Alpine) - it was the last run there. I saw the last night. I passed on the May, 77 set. Also still holding out on this latest Spring 90 set. Anybody get the latest Spring 90 set - wouldn't mind hearing if it was a worthy investment. I got the 1st set, which I still revisit from time to time.

Definitely --- my friend who supplied me with Dead tapes went to NIU - so that was one of my first tapes --- great show.
