  1. Hello readers of this old thread, what I posted here was a premature and incorrect speculation about how I felt like I wasn't going to like the new record. Now two weeks later it has leaked and in 24 hours I have listened to it about eight times and Solitare might be the best thing Tweedy has ever written, so in short I had to come up with a new plan much like Albert Brooks in Lost in America-- "I thought we should drive to New York as fast as we could" "And I eat shit?" " "Uh huh" "My plan too." So I decided to go back Nixon this post, what you read no longer exists, actually the full thi
  2. How bout I translate the first post of the thread for you. Understand now..... --Mike
  3. So as of June 30th the answer will be: AM BT ST YHF AGIB SBS W(TA) Yet until then keep it simple: AM BT ST YHF AGIB SBS --Mike
  4. Though I have been recently listening to the Stones probably more than I have before in my life for some reason Exile on Main Street still leaves me cold, there are a few songs on it I really like: Happy, Tumbling Dice, Shine a Light, and Sweet Virginia, but I have had a hard time really enjoying the whole thing. Then again I have always enjoyed the 60's era of the Stones quite a bit more. --Mike
  5. Orkie has been gracing us with his vast musical knowledge (the majority of which involve some reiteration of the point The Flaming Lips and Pink Floyd = good; In Rainbows = bad) under various extremely popular screen names since about 2004. Search essox500 in the archives if you ever are bored and want to read some of the most unintentionally funny threads in VC history, such as the Orchestral Reprise AGIB suggestions: If I Had Produced A Ghost is Born If you keep giving him shit, eventually he will bring up the fact that you don't have a girlfriend, swell dude. That said I have never not b
  6. Self-titled according to a report from Wendy in the Just a Fan thread. --Mike
  7. I have the utmost respect for the man and his contributions to Wilco over the years, and I'll even go as far as to say I think they'd be better if he was still with them in some capacity, but you don't go to Jay Bennett expecting subtlety. --Mike.
  8. Glad to see the Phins picked up Pat White, I'm adopting them as my second favorite team this year. --Mike
  9. People weren't too hopeful about Matt Ryan last year either, it's always a bit of a crap shoot. That said, I'm not sold on Stafford either. --Mike.
  10. Shame to read this, glad to see you're doing what you can to help out bhickman, I'm wishing Jay a speedy recovery. --Mike
  11. He switches between acoustic guitar and organ on You Are My Face.
  12. Yeah, he claimed it wasn't is in the Rolling Stone interview from 1980. Paul did write the coda of the song "Can You Take Me Back?" But the rest of the song is all John (though Jay Bennett as usual claims to have had some lyrical imput ). I love a great deal of the White Album, but I really think it would be have been a better 22-song double album, than a 30-track one. It's high points are some of if not the best of the band's career, but its lower points, such as the immortal Wild Honey Pie, probably could have been left on the cutting room floor. --Mike
  13. Yeah, I love this YouTube clip Sympathy for the Devil Studio
  14. May 13th edit: Here's another one I don't love, though it would certainly be interesting if Pat started pretending to Jay Bennett, weird, but certainly interesting.
  15. Matt Leinhart (might be too early, but I don't see him rebounding). --Mike
  16. If you don't mind illegally downloading, google searching what you want in quotation marks plus rapidshare or megaupload usually does the trick, you can add @320 if you're worried about sound quality. The At Ease Message Board has a ton of uploaded music in its archives in the music section, you have to register, but you can use the board's search function: it's just like VC, and see if you can find anything. Good luck, I've had an entire hard drive die on me: thankfully this wonderful program called senuti let me rip everything off of my ipod on to back on to our Mac when we fixed it, and los
  17. Putting him on ignore makes most threads a lot more enjoyable to read, except when people quote entire posts. --Mike
  18. I am sorry, I got burned by them when I pre-ordered Sky Blue Sky the day it went up in March and they got it to me eight days after it was released, that along with hearing horror stories from others has made me decide to never use MusicToday again for anything. I still haven't seen the movie yet, I was working all of yesterday and didn't have time to swing over to Minneapolis to pick up a copy. I suppose I will eventually get this, but I don't really feel a pressing need to see it right away. --Mike
  19. It's been mentioned twice, but A Day in the Life is only the greatest song ever recorded. --Mike
  20. Particularly during football season, the congestion is terrible. --Mike
  21. It's better to try to capture the stream after it's been put the roadcase anyway, because it tends to skip less and in some cases not at all after it's been archived. --Mike
  22. Well, I don't think he has any idea what the fuck he's talking about in regards to Wes Anderson's music usage in films, but I still like the dude. --Mike
  23. I am pretty sure they did it at Loolaplooza which was streamed with a live video. There isn't a You Tube of it at the moment, to best of my knowledge. There was a quicktime file of that was uploaded here after the stream but that file has been pulled. --Mike.
