  1. Yeah I strongly recommend either picking that up or just going straight to Electro Shock Blues. Here's yet another to link to the now, sadly, defunct music website Stylus Magazine's feature on that record (ESB), Eels-Electro Shock Blues On Second Thought --Mike
  2. E, Butch, Grant Lee Phillips and Jon Brion: I Like Birds This is from the sadly aborted Jon Brion show, planned for VH-1 in the late nineties, which never aired. Anyway, it's awesome. Grant Lee Phillips is hysterical, highly recommended. --Mike
  3. I figured I'd resurrect this thread as there's quite a bit of Eels related stuff being released. There's a greatest hits and a B-sides comp called Meet The Eels that came out this week (there's a new Jon Brion remix of Climbing Up To The Moon that's really good on the greatest hits disc) and E wrote a book called Things The Grandchildren Should Know, it's only out in the U.K. at the moment, I think it's being released in the states in October. And there's also this documentary done by the BBC Enjoy
  4. Summerteeth was the first album of Wilco's I heard, but I got it right before Yankee Hotel Foxtrot came out, so within a couple of weeks I had both of them. I really liked Summerteeth, particularly Can't Stand It on first listen, but with Yankee Hotel Foxtrot I felt they took it to an entirely different level. The first time I listened to it, I think I spent an hour just listening to I am Trying To Break Your Heart alone. I was almost afraid to let it play through, because I thought there was no way it could any better. Thankfully I did. I actually didn't take too any of their other records as
  5. Seven part documentary done by BBC about Mark Oliver Everett, aka E from Eels, and his father Hugh Everett who came up with the parallel universe theory. A great mix of science and music. 6. Thanks for starting this topic Jules, I had never heard of this before, though I almost always get something like this after I urinate. I'm glad to find out I'm not the only one. --Mike
  7. Not sure how I ruined it. If you mean by re-posting the first post, I guarantee you people will still mis-read it. If you mean by the rather uppity nature of my last post, well for that I apologize, it was a rough morning. In conclusion all I have to say is... AM BT ST YHF AGIB SBS --Mike

  10. As a lifelong Cowboy hater I throughly enjoyed that game. A Pats-Packers Super Bowl would be amazing (I'm pulling for Farve at this point, since the Steelers have been bounced), though I wouldn't mind seeing a rematch of the Week 17 game Giants-Pats game. --Mike
  11. I guess I need to get this. --Mike
  12. Yeah it was pretty unpopular with some people when they first started playing, I think I remember calling it Jet on steroids, but still redeemable. it wasn't quite as despised as Let's Fight or On and On and On (which I think grew on a lot of people after it came out on the album). --Mike
  13. Excellent film. I've been on a bit of an Altman kick lately and this one might be my favorite that I've seen thus far, Elliott Gould is incredible in this one. --Mike
  14. I love that song, I have a Ron Sexsmith cover of that from a NPR session somewhere that's incredible. --Mike
  15. This would be interesting... From espn.com USC coach Pete Carroll is interested in the Atlanta Falcons' head coach opening and is expected to speak with Atlanta owner Arthur Blank via phone Wednesday, sources at the American Football Coaches Convention in Anaheim told ESPN's Joe Schad. Pete Carroll has been rumored for many head coaching vacancies in the NFL in recent years. Blank is expected to offer full control of personnel decisions to Carroll and the sources said that is what intrigues Carroll most. Carroll is currently on vacation in Hawaii. The Falcons' interest in talking t

  17. Well I must say I throughly enjoyed every second (All right those twin 30-yard penalties had me dropping a couple f bombs) of the Fiesta Bowl and also hopefully this Orange Bowl score holds up as well (Still bitter about VT spurning the Big East). After the game there was essentially no possible way they could not give the program to Bill Stewart, who was named the head coach today, and hopefully it will work out. I'd like the hire a lot more if he hadn't have been canned from his previous job at VMI where he went like 8-25, for using a racial slur, but he seems to have learned his lesson and

  19. Right now Terry Bowden is essentially begging for the job, and Doc Holliday is on their list as well, I intern at the Charleston newspaper in the sports department during my breaks, and we didn't get a confirmation on the Saban rumors yet. My issue with this hire would be is Saban really capable of staying in a place long enough to deal with any kind of adversity. He is a WV native, but I'd be more comfortable with Jim Grobe (current head coach of Wake Forest who is from Huntington, WV) or Turner Gill (he was essentially the Pat White of the eighties at Nebraska and runs a similar style offens
  20. . In basketball WVU ended up getting Bob Huggins, who was their first choice before they hired Belein so for the most part that was forgiven. With Rodriguez, however, yeah I am not the world's biggest Michigan fan at the moment (I still hate Ohio State a little more though). Anyway, a few things about Rod. Don't expect him to turn things completely around right off the bat, he was 3-8 in his first year here and lost to Temple (I was there, that gamed sucked even more than the Pitt game.). For all the hype about his offensive genius, he essentially runs about ten plays a game, it was maddening

  23. I don't really see Steve Slaton going nine. He's an undersized injury prone back that's coming off a down year. I think he tons of potential, but I don't see him as a top ten pick. --Mike
