Excuse my flakiness on tracklistings - I listen to too much stuff in the car - but there is one track (something to do with Cairo) that sounds remarkably similar to another one of theirs. In danger of repeating themselves there. I would be more specific if I could, but I can't, so I won't.

Most of what I've heard I like so far, although the whole thing would work a lot better if they dumped a couple of the tracks that border on insufferable. I can't name names at present.

Setlist: -You Are My Face -I Am Trying To Break Your Heart -Shot In The Arm -Side With The Seeds -Via Chicago -Handshake Drugs -Impossible Germany -Walken -I'm The Man Who Loves You -Spiders (Kidsmoke) I think it was actually Pat who he (Nels) was mock gunning down. PS: Match report to follow as soon as I've caught up on sleep and a traditional diet.

And it's the fact that it doesn't have anything as good as Bros, Take Pills or Good Girl/Carrots (particularly Good Girl/Carrots - which grew slowly to become my favourite) that doesn't make it as good. But then little will be as good this year, by anyone. It is a bit Rolf Harris, but reminds me of when we bog-washed my mate Sean who had just lost his job and would do anything (ie a bog-wash) for a pint. I was right about Newsom (she's as annoying a squeaky shopping trolley wheel), and I'm right about Person Pitch. So if Rich didn't listen to me, and therefore not listen to PP, then h

Oh ok, I'll have another listen. It was Picadilly Records' Album of 2006 y'know.
-
Totally agree with that. And that's no slight on Animal Collective, and Strawberry Jam is very good - but when comparing it to Person Pitch - which is going to happen because of both being released this year - then it is going to suffer because PP is pretty much untouchable.
-
I've listened to it through now and really like this, it's still got a lot of what AC are famous for - weirdness and tom-tom thumping - but it's a bit more synthetic sounding than the campfire folky stuff on Feels. #1 is the favourite on it after the first few listens.
-
Just finished Animal Collective - Strawberry Jam (tres bien) and now: Which just gets better with ever listen, and is one that doesn't really stand up to listening to in the car.

Cheers Mr Backpack, will look for this later.

Still only got the two-thirds of it that's been doing 'the rounds'. I like it, they're going for a different type of sound but still keeping the usual madness. Just wish they let Panda Bear loose on the vocals more often, which hopefully they do in the missing third. Trip down the pigpen later to find out.

Slightly over a week since the event, but to survive a mud war of attrition and survive unharmed (apart from a cold) is pretty brave, and I'm the bravest soldier of them all (at least in my mum's eyes). There were, as usual, a host of bands and performers to be enjoyed and this is the lowdown: ================================================================= Pear cider, goat curry and trench foot: welcome back Glasto, we've missed you In 2007 The Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing arts had its biggest ever capacity since the introduction of the so-called "Superfence", with

Bernard Butler was the best Verve guitarist. His three day tenure is the stuff legends are made from.
-
Really? I always thought that McCabe was the reason for The Verve finishing on the two previous occasions - him pulling out of tours, etc. I always believed it was he and Ashcroft who had the major differing of opinions. Still, as previously pointed out, an extremely underrated guitarist.

With glasses on J looks like a Peter File.

Now there's a guy who could watch a game of tennis without moving his head.

Carbon Dating and, although anthemically obvious, Suckers are my favourites at the moment. And don't you think Into The Night, which I also like, sounds like Rain and Snow by Pentangle (probably played by Deep Purple though)? The answer you're looking for is "yes". I'm getting good at this.

I think a lot of it is to do with Panda Bear having a much better voice, or a better use of his voice, than Avey Tare, and it's the latter who gets more of a look in on the vocals front. Not that it's bad but Person Pitch has raised the benchmark. Any sign of the final third?
-
Listened to it last night through poxy computer speakers. It sounded good, though not as good as Person Pitch. They seem to have dispensed the natural folky sound for a more metallic sheen, but still very enjoyable. Particularly the samples of the lightsabres sparking up.

NP: The zither crazy Hey Venus! Very brief but a definite return to form after the not quite bum note of Love Kraft.

Ah, The Gateway Song, that'll be the Welsh accent. It was short and a bit Quo sounding, so yeah, not too dissimilar to Fuzzy Logic then. And good that it sounds like it because, along with Phantom Power and Guerilla, that's one of my favourites.

Heard a couple of tracks played live at Glastonbury on Friday - the Guto Song (?) which was brief, and another one which had Phil Spector sounding drums - title escapes me but it sounded great. Bottom line is, what's the album like?

Highlights from the weekend (including near full sets from Arctic Monkeys and The Killers) is currently being aired through the digital Catch-Up TV in the UK. That would be the best place for someone to grab it unless they recorded the live broadcasts on Hard Drive. I'm afraid I don't have the technology to do that. Failing any of that then net broadcasts is the only viable option. The BBC has a host of acts who were performing for you to watch and listen. They are available here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/glastonbury/2007/watchandlisten/ I managed to go. I now have thigh muscles like bull

It's closer in spirit to Up In Flames, although there is one track that's quite Neu!-like and similar to Milk of Human Kindness. But ignore all that becaise the thing that the album sounds most like is anything poppy and psychedelic rocky from the 60s. Specifically, think Odyssey and Oracle from the Zombies and you won't go far wrong. Seriously.
