Liverpool vs Arsenal. Terrible game Only joking. It was amazingly captivating, showing just how football can be both joyous and cruel, and often at the same time. I know it's a bit of a cliche but there truly is something indescribable about those European Anfield nights. However, the Chelsea semi-final might be a different affair as the first leg is at Anfield.

After bailing out after 8 episodes of season 3, and given the recent drivel on tv, I did 'a Jack' and I had to go baaaaack to the island. And I'm glad I did. It certainly started to get a lot better and, as ever, the Desmond episodes turned out to be the best, closely followed by Sayid's. Bit of a shame that the weakest episodes so far in Season 4 for have centred on two women (Kate and Juliet) but I'm looking forward to the super-concentrated five episode finale now. I watched episode 8 last night and this too struck me. In fact I wouldn't even limit it to Mr. Widmore (or Jim Robinson

Dang! That's pretty funny. I didn't realise that was Pig Pen in the Nite Owl costume until I scrolled down and caught the clouds of filth by the feet. I don't know how well the perpetually worried Charlie Brown would be as Dr. Manhatton, but the expression on his face is priceless.

Have W.O.F.D.C.A.P. (World Organisation For Decreasing Captive Animal Problems) been informed about the polar bear? A few years ago W.O.F.D.C.A.P. incorporating A.A.A.A.A.A.A.Z. - Against Animal Anger and Autocausal Abuse Atrocities in Zoo's, started their campaign to help Carla the Elephant who had her trunk stuck in her anus. At the time many celebrities offered their support to help Carla's plight, including: Britt Eckland: "Last year they (W.O.F.D.C.A.P.) stopped penguins catapulting each other through the glass roof at Sydney Zoo. Last month they stopped a pig throwing itself on to a

It was deserved, but I think there's a general inconsistency. Particularly when you consider that his crime, swearing and moaning at the ref, is really no different to Rooney or John Terry's usual method of petulant complaint. In fact John Terry is usually well over the top when confronting the ref, so much so that it may have cost him his England captaincy. So in summary: yes, to send him off, but a shame it took the referees such a long time to act on something that's been happening for quite a while.

That article was excellent. The difference between the two is quite marked, whether the movie photos are to be used in a promotional sense is unclear yet, but I hope they at least try to go with some sort of feel of those original ads. At least with the original ads the characters are placed in the context of their natural environment, giving a sense of their nature. If nothing else, it would create far more intrigue (definitely necessary in the age of viral marketing), and therefore interest, than the glossy shots.

I'm in full agreement, particularly with any Alan Moore adaptation. But life's a tough lot, and you have to make concessions to Hollywood. Which brings me neatly onto Watchmen. Just been having a look on the blog, apparently the filming has wrapped and is now in post production, which given that it's released on 6th March 2009, is a heck of long wait. Anyway the blog has some pics of the characters: I'm unsure whether these are photos or artwork, but seeing as it's directed by the chap who did 300, I'm sensing it's a combnation of both. This however IS a frame from the film. A bit of

I was with this thread until all this Harry-Potter-owls-at-the-window talk. Surely worth in art is determined by the observer, and by that very nature is subjective? Some people may value the aesthetic connection, others the spiritual connection, others both, and so and so on. The other side of the worth coin, and this is were 'intention' steps in, is the creator's (or artist's, or if we're being truly theological, God's) successful achievement of their intention. That again is subjective, because even if they didn't achieve their intention, there may be a personal preference in the worth,

His reaction to the referee afterwards has cemented his position as the league's most hated player. This from the football365 blog, and this is mild comared to the Cashley related letters received on that site:

Exactly what he said. In my opinion it's their best song by far, one which, although really good on record, sounds much much better live and has to be experienced that way (and I do mean experienced if they have the full-on light show and back projections).

How did you find this? It's the only Alex Cox film I don't have, and for some reason I've never got round to picking it up. Although indulgant, and not exactly textbook, I find Cox's films and stories fascinating. Highway Patrolman is a great film

Thousands may have used them, but both songs are about unrequited love. Hardly a great omen for a happy future. Under consideration: New Porns' Go Places, and Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead.

Wouldn't you end up back where you started? Anyway, I'd take it chronological order. Laser Guided Melodies Pure Phase Ladies and Gentlemen.... and so on. If you're big on lyrics, and as a narrative on Jason Pierce's life, it would make more sense.

I'd be interested to hear from anyone unfortunate enough to choose either James Blunt's You're Beautiful or Paul Weller's You Do Something To Me.

I was interesting to hear how their newer more electronic sound would transfer from stage to recording studio. The answer is clear: very well. Very exciting for the new album too, particularly as this is the stuff that has been, by choice, omitted.

Seconded. I'm only two tracks in and it's quickly rivalling Person Pitch.
