  1. Well, that ends my postseason. For the record, I was 0-3 laying out the sports cover of the Plain Dealer (game 3 against the Yanks, games 5 and 7 against the Sox). I knew they were doomed when they lost Saturday. Westbrook was living on the edge all night; the luck ran out after they pulled him. Sizemore, CC and Pronk were huge disappointments, Carmona less so. Garko gave 'er a ride in the eighth, almost tied it up. Outscored 30-5 in three closeout games? Unforgiveable.
  2. So Andrew Bird's gonna replace Jeff Tweedy? NICE!!! Actually, I mentioned to Bird that I thought that Wilco should be opening for him. He said that wasn't realistic.
  3. I was in the first row of regular seats, far over on Pat's side, on the eisle, across from a tall, stunning blonde . . . and her date . During the second encore I slid into the pit (the beef boys had moved to the front of the stage) and I was amazed how much louder it got moving 10 feet closer to the stacks.
  4. Funny thing is that Event Security looked as if they could have been players.
  5. Happy ending! Last-minute switcheroo, and I entered the aud. just as sunken treasure started. I do appreciate the concern, though.
  6. Then he reattached his balls and continued the show.
  7. Sabathia and Carmona don't last 5 innings and the Indians are up, 3-1? Maybe God likes Cleveland, too. Still, "shocked" might be a bit strong, since both teams won 96 games during the season. And, don't forget, the Indians played four "home" games on the road (at Milwaukee and Seattle).
  8. I'm just back in Cleveland. Outstanding set! I'd given up on going because of the Indians, but after showing up to at the newsroom I was able to switch to working Thursday night (Game 5, aka The Clincher) and I hi-tailed it to Columbus at about 6:50. Missed A. Bird (which sucks, but I'd rather see him as a headliner), entered the aud needing a rest stop just as Sunken Treasure was starting. Had to go the whole show, but held my water - keeps you from getting too comfortable!
  9. What the crowd is really cheering about is the fact that we're done with Chip Caray.
  10. It's less a choice thing and more a job thing.
  11. If you're seein' 'em on their current tour, don't miss opener The Last Town Chorus. 12. Oh, great. Now "Biology Tricks" is gonna be bouncing in my head the rest of the week. Will used to sing me to sleep with "Carlton Chronicles." That's not gay, is it?
  13. "And Your Bird Can Sing." Was Lennon goofing on the Byrds with that one? They certainly weren't above such needling.
  14. **Big sigh** - can't make the show because Indians are in the ALCS. Those bastards better win. Of course, the World Series would screw me with DBT and TLTC. Can't win for winning.
  15. Jeez, my 401k's all about Fidelity. I have a bunch of Vanguard, but it's all Index 500, so they're not making much off that, right?
  16. This game might not make second edition.
  17. Would have really, really liked it if Tribe had wrapped it up last night.
  18. Click and scroll down to "The Forgotten Murray Roman." and while you're there, check out Tony Randall singing "Winchester Cathedral." Plus Marcy Tigner with "Oh, How I Love Jesus" on a trombone. Plus the Treniers with their hit, "Poon-tang." Plus the full version on the "ABC World News Tonight Theme." Plus Not The Beatles with "Not Live at 688."
  19. So he's actually somebody? Needs a shave.
  20. NL west was the toughest division in baseball this season, so I'm ok with Colo-Ariz. Lets hope it's more like the tiebreaker and less like these division series dogs.
  21. This reminds me of that line in Dr. Strangelove where the president shouts "Gentlemen, you can't fight here, this is the War Room!" War is the ultimate obscenity. It is corrupt and corrupting by definition. That will never change.
