  1. How dare you suggest there is someone more famous than Jeff Tweedy?
  2. I am so busted! When's Wilco gonna cover Turning Japanese?
  3. Burns tends a bit toward the White Hat-Black Hat, victim-villain narrative. The history is good, but realize that he's very, very manipulative.
  4. Taser boy, Miss Teen South Carolina, OJ, moveon.org, Michael Vick. The face of America, 2007. Oh, don't forget the astronaut in a diaper.
  5. We're not as bad as the Clerks fanboys. So ghey.
  6. 1 t shirt (the Ramones knockoff) 1 distressed t shirt cut while opening SBS package. A bunch of ticket stubs. 1 autographed poster to benefit Katrina relief. 1 bottle of water tossed from the stage at Cleveland after a show in 2003. 1 master recording of the Sept. 2002 show at the Parish in Austin. 1 master recording of the Sept. 2002 ACL Fest set. 1 master recording of the June 2003 Montreal Jazz Fest set. Oh, right, those 2 books. and every CD 'cept kicking TV
  7. Brilliant! I'll be taking a taser to the Wilco show in Columbus next month. All you "talkers" consider yourselves warned.
  8. So I hear Wilco was at Stubbs. For lunch.
  9. Not one of his real enduring hits, but I've always loved it.
  10. I'm sure they're very nice parking spaces.
  11. Overall, how'd the festival rate? Weather, performances, crowd? I'd been to 4 of the first 5 and was thinking about it on Saturday at 11:30 when we were struggling to get the Sunday paper out. What I recall about the two Wilco sets I saw at the fest was in 2002 just thinking to myself "what a cool place to be," and in 2004 that gorgeous sunset.
  12. That reminds me . . . I gotta get to my fave porn site! See ya in a bit!
  13. Shouldn't be too difficult to spot. Being a cult band, Wilco should draw a small but loyal gathering.
  14. Oh, sure. Get together and have a party the ONE YEAR I'm not going!
  15. Jon Stewart to return as Oscar host 1 hour, 3 minutes ago BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - Jon Stewart will return as host of the Oscars in 2008. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences announced Wednesday that Stewart will host the 80th awards show Feb. 24 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. Oscar telecast producer Gil Cates described Stewart as smart, quick and funny. He said Stewart loves movies and is a great guy. Stewart got mixed reviews when he hosted the 78th annual awards. Some jokes fell flat and some critics expected the political satirist to be edgier. Stewart joked tha
  16. Dang, that's a lot of taping. When I saw Neko Case tape in Aug. 03 they gave away tickets at the studio, then gave 'em out at her warmup show the night before at the Parish. But that was while school was out, so the student demand was down. If you get shutout for tickets, you might wanna hang around the line outside the studio before the show. Some kind soul might have an extra.
  17. From Robert Draper's new book, Dead Certain: The Presidency of George W. Bush. "'You're the observer,' he said as he worked the cheese in his mouth. 'I'm not. I really do not feel comfortable in the role of analyzing myself. I'll try ..." 'You've gotta think, think BIG. The Iranian issue,' he said as bread crumbs tumbled out of his mouth and onto his chin, 'is the strategic threat right now facing a generation of Americans, because Iran is promoting an extreme form of religion that is competing with another extreme form of religion. Iran
  18. I love Guy Clark's quote on TVZ's writing: "Nobody cuts it that close to the bone. I s'pose everybody cuts it as close as they can. It's not a competitive sport. It's more like how close can you cut it to your own bone? Did you break your own heart? Did you scare the shit out of yourself? That's what matters. Townes went for the passion, not a bunch of clever bullshit."
  19. Would that be with or without tampon?
  20. Stern on Letterman in 1984. Howard wants $500,000 a year from WNBC.
  21. Townes came from money and from what I've read it really didn't mean much to him. Then there was the gambling, the junk and just giving money away. I second that emotion. The more I discover, the more I realize how much I haven't discovered.
