  1. Thank you wifey for two amazing years of marriage. You're my home wherever we go. One of these days I promise to learn how to properly fold the laundry, even if you never end your addiction to the snooze button. That's some real love there...
  2. I'm assuming you've already checked out the website, etc.? I think they have ample parking for this place, as it is composed of a few different venues in what I think is an old, renovated train station. My cousins live in San Antonio, so I'm going to try and get the skinny from them once I have the chance to make a call. If I find out anything relevant, I'll post accordingly...

  6. what a stunning violation of our constitutional right of free speech.
  7. The reporting of Harold Ford Jr. holding himself out as a lawyer is such rubbish. The headline looks bad, but when you learn the details and context it's such a ridiculous thing to be treating as a story. ugh. campaigning is all around us...
  8. I'd think twice if you had plans to visit North Korea over the weekend...
  9. I'm curious about all the shouts I've been hearing for Hastert to resign over the Foley matter. Taking Republican vs. Democrat out of the equation for a second (please just give it a try), I'm just curious as to why the Speaker, in particular, is necessarily responsible for a rep's behavior. Now, granted, if the Speaker is helping to conceal a crime, or a matter of national security, etc., that's one thing. But why should a Speaker step down just because he or she may have had knowledge about a member of his/her party engaging in unethical conduct? Does the Speaker have any authority to m

  13. an FYI to anyone interested in the Texas gubernatorial race (or anyone who just wants to see what the hell is going to come out of Kinky's mouth...), the one and only debate is on this evening at 7 p.m. Central time.
  14. I can't thank you enough for this link. The wife is a trivial pursuit nut, and this will be the perfect not-serious part of my presents to her for our anniversary Monday. Been racking my brain all week trying to think of a silly, fun gift to go with the one that's going to break my wallet.
  15. how in the world can "tall" be the smallest size available?
  16. Fantastic news, thanks for the head's up. I've been wondering if any of the gear had been recovered, including two guitars to my immediate left.
  17. Interestingly enough, on my way back from court just now I was listening to a local talk radio host, who also happens to be on the Houston City Council. He was taking callers and asking them who they're going to vote for in the Texas governor's race. The one caveat he gave everyone is that they needed to state a reason why they are voting FOR their candidate, rather than an explanation along the lines of "anyone but X..." I listened to about 8 different callers, each of whom were cut off by the host in the first 10 seconds, because they couldn't adhere to his caveat. So many of them were
  18. having just scarfed down fast food breakfast for some much-needed fuel, I am sorely envious of that breakfast experience...
  19. Well put, loper. I was thinking back to my grandparents' generation, when there certainly was a greater respect for our government leaders in general (not saying it was necessarily deserved, I think it was more a matter of manners), but I also think that people might have been even more entrenched in their party affiliations because of family, church or work affiliation (back when every word and vote of every politician wasn't instantly available on the net and the local paper and three networks were "the news"). I agree with your points about the potential for the internet to break dow
