My stereo is in my living room. And my kitchen is in my, well, kitchen. Which means that when I am preparing a feast for (the Z) family, I have no real music options. When I am quite desperate, I will take my laptop in there with me and will listen through the speakers on the laptop. This is simply not sustainable. Does anyone have any suggestions for listening to music in other rooms in the house? I toyed with setting up some computer speakers in the kitchen, and then just connecting my laptop to those. I am also looking at those various iPod speaker docks, but they all get pretty iff

For what it is worth, W(TF) is right. That doesn't mean that anyone should care who doesn't otherwise care, but there's no way that an iPod can drive good headphones. If you are listening to mp3s, or if you are listening on the train ride to work, it may not matter. Or, as a general matter, one may not care (or may not even notice) the hairs being split, but those hairs do exist. Put an amp between your source and high-end headphones and there is a difference. It's up to the individual whether he/she cares. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. My ipod operates as my music source for trav

The Beatles were good and did lots of things. Virtually any good album these days will have some things on it that remind me, in some ways, of the Beatles. That doesn't make the album Beatlesque. I'm with Winston Legthigh.

I guess. I realize how snobby my post sounded. It's more reality than snobbishness. (Maybe that's just as snobby). I don't like how Bud Light tastes, so I don't drink it. My friends agree with me, because, well, it doesnt taste good, so they don't drink it either. As for parties, I may have been a bit hyperbolic, but again, I can't even imagine a party beign thrown with only Bud Light. It doesn't taste good. Why would someone throw a party like that? I would certainly attend a party that served Bud Light among other beers. One situation in which I will drink Bud Light is at a bal

I dont have friends that drink Bud Light and I would not attend a party that served it.

I'd rather listen to virtually every Wilco song by Jeff Tweedy solo with just an acoustic guitar. -
Fuck yeah, Dude. Enjoy the hell out of it!

Reluctant kudos? Heck no! I didnt even realize it was KV (Vonnegut?), but yeah, it's very cool. I don't know what a "normal" venue is -- you've got me on that one. I guess I sort of come out where SpeedRacer is on all of this. I know it's awfully banal and frankly, cliche at this point, to pick on U2/Bono. I dont mean to go down that path. It just strikes me as odd that the band would spend so much effort and time (if you are right) on creating a spectacle instead of focusing that energy on creating music. And then just playing at whatever venues they could sell out. Do they really

I get what you are saying redpillbox, but you sound like a biased fan, and I sound like a biased nonfan (or, former fan). Just seems to me you are going out of your way to praise the band for putting in so much effort to connect with their fans. But the fact remains that this is a touring machine now, with the focus on a spectacle. They'd connect with all their fans (and much more sincerely, IMO), if they "invested" in their fans by focusing on writing great songs, and playing normal venues instead of Giants Stadium. I just dont get what they are accomplishing by trying to connect with the

Man, I really don't want to go tonight. Can someone talk this devastated Kinks fan off the ledge? And Crow, come on, I said I love you. I still gotta call em as I see em! -

speaking of my ray davies points above, here is some blasphemy that I don't believe in. Jeez, does anyone want my tickets for tonight's show? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbbSXkRhg8w&feature=player_embedded edit: to weigh in on the IRDB debate, an argument could be made that Crow started the personal attacks by saying that the only people that like the Dead are wannabe hippies. I love the Crow Daddy, but he could have said that the Dead suck. -
Actually, I don't see your point. Are fans really more interested in a huge show than the music? Who cares about three rotating stages? How is that an investment in their fans?

Shouldn't your ire be directed at Dhani and Olivia for allowing it? -

Well, that song is certainly an example of greatness from that album. What do you mean, the "2nd time in a row"? FWIW, I am seeing him tonight at Town Hall in NY so I can report back on how he treats the song tonight. -

Ray Davies may be the greatest living songwriter not named Dylan. Muswell Hillbillies is a vastly overrated album. It's a good album, and it has moments, but on the whole, it doesn't approach the band's best work. -
rubbish? Come on. Super Session is a fun album. You don't like having fun? Is that the problem?

Yes, yes! My grassroots movement is begining to pay off! "The reasoning in “Outliers,” which consists of cherry-picked anecdotes, post-hoc sophistry and false dichotomies, had me gnawing on my Kindle." -
Now I remember why I was an independent all those years.

As someone who lives in NYC, and someone who loves dearly countless family and friends that live in NYC, I am well aware of the risks and the issues that a trial downtown will present. With that being said, bring those fuckers to the Federal Courthouse and try them here, in public, for everyone to see. These hawks are such cowards. Although I guess I shouldn't be surprised since they generally send someone else's son to fight their wars, too.
