  1. Thanks Sir S. I just tried what you suggested. The CD works right in Windows Media and iTunes, but not in Rhapsody. Now I need to figure out why that is. Maybe Rhapsody automatically adds a gap or WMA/iTunes automatically crossfades? Holy crap this is annoying. Thanks again for the help.
  2. Sorry, I wasn't clear. When I burn, I get a gap between Sgt Pepper and With a Little Help. I didnt try "gapless" because I figured that would make every track gapless, and obviously, as you said, there should be a gap between Fixing A Hole and Getting Better.
  3. I am a new iTunes user. Can someone help me figure out to burn a cd that has some gapless tracks, but not all gapless tracks? Ie, Sgt Pepper? I can't figure it out, and I looked online. All I see is options for all or nothing. Thanks pals.
  4. dust. As for whether I wonder whether I might spend eternity in hell, sure I do. Reminds me of that bumper sticker I once saw that says "if you don't believe in God, you'd better be right." Then again, I am not Christian, so if they are right, I am going to hell anyway.
  5. listen to my eyes singing radiator tunes and then you will know
  6. Yeah, that makes sense when you put it that way. I can't watch him parading around on stage when he is mocking, not sure how to put it, mentally retarded people. If there was a song that reminded me of that, I'd never listen to it.
  7. Oh really? I guess I never took it all that seriously. I figured he was just being hyperbolic. Sort of a "if my thought dreams could be seen, they'd probably put my head in a guillotine."
  8. Yeah. And it goes without saying that this crowd may not be an accurate representation of reality.
  9. I made a pact with a buddy that I'd buy the mono box, and he'd buy the stereo box, and we'd burn the cds and swap. Well, I love the guy, but I just (FINALLY) got the stereo cds. Ohhhhhhhhhh yeah!
  10. The weird thing that i can't figure out, and it's sort of proved by this thread, is that everyone seems to agree that the traditional record store is gone, and that it is missed. And yet, they've all closed. Is it because the Tower Records of the world ran the good ones out of business and (basically) sucked major ass? So then they went out of business? Is there a market for a really good record store? And if I opened one, could I support my family?
  11. I'm going to reserve the right to change this after some more thought, but: Someone to play guitar with at the campfire: Someone to talk baseball with: Someone to have fun with (it's gonna get boring there): Someone to talk to when I can't sleep: It's not my fault my wife isn't a celebrity:
  12. haha, nice. I'd be happy to be on your desert island. We'd have some good tunes, certainly. Not sure I can come up with only 5, but I do think it would be fun to get futureage1 and Good Old Neon on an island together.
  13. I have a feeling that this is going to be my favorite thread of all time.
  14. All true, GON, but my religious friends aren't in the religious right and aren't comparing Obama to Hitler. They also don't have a problem with gay marriage or stem cell research. They are people that are deserving of respectful discourse, and much of Dawkins and Hitchens comes off as dismissive and patronizing. I don't think they have anything to apologize for, and as I said, I agree with them. But I am not surprised that people find them annoying. And fwiw, my guess is that their chosen method of spreading their message only serves to skew their audience to folks that already agree with
  15. Hey Ghost - don't take it personally. There have been some real knock-down, drag-it-out, slugfests around here on this very topic. Many of the usual participants may try to avoid revisiting it. Then again, maybe not. I've read both Dawkins and Hitchens. They are preaching to the converted with me, so to speak. But yes, they are awfully dogmatic. And patronizing. Then again, I think it's almost unavoidable for these discussions to travel down a patronizing path. After all, the atheist believes that the religious are basing their lives on a myth or fairy tale. You can try to sugarcoat
  16. x2 I use the 8830 for work/email and have no need or desire to upgrade. In NYC, the iPhone is a pretty bad phone (AT&T). I don't know about the Storm.
  17. Lou, I agree with alot of what you say, but you are glossing over an undeniable and complicating factor in all this. Those stores required patrons to buy blind. Digital media has opened up so many doors to customers that otherwise wouldn't have wanted to take a chance on an album they hadn't heard for $15. Sure, you (and I) might be willing to walk into a store, chat with some folks, and buy music on faith. But once mp3s, and blogs, and those little preview buttons on Amazon and in BarnesNoble started up, it opened a whole new world and I wonder if there's any going back now. Sure, record
  18. I've never been able to get into Springsteen, but I can certainly get into the fact that everyone here had an amazing time, and how many people really love him. Really glad for everyone that got to see this. It's kind of cool to see such joy from folks. It's infectious.
  19. Sure, you went to the internet, but what makes you think you are going to get a straight answer here? Sorry if I came off snarky. Just seems that if this is an issue you are interested in, a little bit of work will pay off. You can read newspapers online, too. As for the debate, Dan is on the money. The debate about health coverage has already been settled. You walk into an emergency room without insurance and you will be cared for. End of story. This country already has universal health care. The question is do we continue to pay for it by incentivizing people to wait until the last
  20. Not through iTunes, not through emusic, and no mp3 downloads with the LP. Since I buy most of my new stuff on vinyl, if I want digital versions of these songs, I have to go out and buy another copy of the album on CD. It says a lot about Drag City and the quality of their artists that I am willing to do that (even on occasion). But it is pretty annoying. I would probably be boycotting any other label for this.
  21. You missed my point. The guy asked a question that he could have learned by picking up any newspaper or any news program. The answer to his question is everywhere. Trust me, I completely understand why someone would avoid these threads.
  22. Do you also stay away from newspapers, news programs, and news magazines?
  23. The thing that really grinds my gears is when LPs don't come with an mp3 download. I am looking at YOU Drag City records. LP for home listening. Mp3s for ipod listening. Tis all I need.
