  1. i think pitchfork could use another master of the metaphor. like they don't have enough already. when first getting into a band, i happen to think it's usually better to start from the beginning and follow their progression. i believe that the bends is a terrific rock record and one of their best over all. but pablo honey was the beginning and it's not an album that deserves the snide remarks from those who jumped on the bandwagon after OK computer. i'm not saying you are one of those fans...but, i digress. pablo is where it all STARTED. obviously, they've PROGRESSED from there. there's no r
  2. mr porkchop jackass, you obviously take things pretty personal in regards to mr springsteen. not that there's anything wrong with that. not everybody's a fan of bruce...deal with it. my 58 year-old fart comment has to do with the box that corporate radio puts artists in. "romeo...throat of gold...little too old..." awww f*ck it. why bother. and no, tunnel of love didn't include glory days. never said that did i? it's all about reading comprehension. check into it skippy. go kick your dog or something.
  3. maybe it was his use of the term "speedball" in glory days...? i really have nothing at all against bruce. just a dislike for radio in general. I actually think it's great he's still selling albums.
  4. more like a dearth of good music. ...or a conspiracy... who cares. good for him.
  5. i do like the first two by maiden with di'anno, especially killers. quite different from the dickinson era, which peaked imo with piece of mind. they became too much about the show after that. i did like brave new world quite a bit. last time i saw them was on that tour in 2000. that's the last "metal" concert i went to.
  6. the schedule is definately in their favor. even so, the way they are playing it probably wouldn't matter if Texas and Oklahoma were on the schedule. they are playing with supreme confidence, have had no significant injuries and pay no mind to their bumbling past. they are just plain getting it done. i can't wait till the mizzou game, but they are just focused on the huskers this saturday. one game at a time.
  7. the vapors did that "i think i'm turning japanese" song.
  8. I like Pablo, Bends, OK and nothing after. I think changing with each album can be a good thing (ie: Wilco) but I just never could buy into the direction they took. I tried, I really did. I'm not a Radiohead basher at all, they just make music for other people now. Just not for me.
  9. KU is freakin' 8-0 and ranked #8. I never saw this coming.
  10. Maybe we should blame this on Tony Bennett? Didn't he kick off this whole trend?
  11. You know what's weird? My Mom has those Rod Stewart American Songbook CD's. MY FREAKIN' MOM!!! WTF? She never knew who the hell Rod Stewart was till he came out with those.
  12. My wife and I walked out of Anchorman after only about 15 minutes and caught a different movie. I don't even remember what movie we ended up seeing now. I guess I just wasn't in the mood for Will Ferrell at the time. However, Anchorman is now one of my favorite comedys of all time thanks to finally giving it another shot on DVD.
  13. I was a teenager in the 80's and didn't like anything after High 'n' Dry. They were just too slick musically for my taste. It just got worse from there. I thought Pyromania had a cool album cover, but that was about it. As far as the Leppard "covers" album. Kind of sad that a band that age resorts to a cover album that late in their career. Nice choice of songs, but I prefer the original versions done by the original artists.
  14. no disagreement there. i was merely referencing the fact the the last two media blowups regarding coulter were from HIS show. any show regardless of political bent needs to question why the hell they would give such a lowlife a platform to spew her opinions.
  15. actually, i was referring to this: IU should fire Sampson speaking of newpaper links, the kc star's music blog has wilco video for a few songs from the kc crossroads gig. here's the link for it: wilco in kc
  16. jared' date='Oct 16 2007, 06:14 PM' post='968375' hey hey- well i've done/seen pretty much all that except for, of course the sprint center -i was at wilco, but i'm keeping my fingers crossed for a hannah montana ticket - and, also of course the bball hall of fame isn't open yet... but, as a HUGE college hoops fan, this will be cool. It's officially open to the public tomorrow. and, i'm gonna have to call you out on the Zona Rosa call. what shops are there for MEN? i live right by it, and was at Marshall's today. i like marshalls for the most part, and the happy hour at here

  18. QUOTE(H to the ickle @ Oct 14 2007, 04:55 PM) It also doesn't help that I think KC is a shithole Insulting the place that many Wilco fans on this board have chosen to live isn't a very nice thing to do nor is it a way to be taken seriously or to make friends. QUOTE(H to the ickle @ Oct 14 2007, 08:54 PM) ...I was out of that God-forsaken city 15 minutes after Spiders was done. So, I guess you didn't make any new friends while you were here for the 6th time. QUOTE(H to the ickle @ Oct 15 2007, 09:34 PM) I just don't like KC. It think it's stupidly laid out and has little to no persona
