  1. if OSU wins the game, that's great. it won't really mean much this year. my only issue is with OSU fans desperate to legitimize their appearance in the title game by slapping at KU. which obviously is without any merit and extremely hypocritical this season. so, go ahead...win the game. get your commemorative SI yearbook/dvd/football, etc. nobody else really cares. only a playoff system would make it legit and interesting.
  2. Yeah, seriously. KU outscored their non-con opponents 214-23. records of non-con opponents: 17-31. OSU outscored their non-con opponents 139-25. records of non-con opponents: 17-30. OSU is in the title game because of WHO they are, not because of WHAT they've done this season. OSU has no right to talk about KU.
  3. Are you f*cking kidding me? OSU has absolutely NO room to talk smack on KU. Ohio State beat Youngstown St., Akron, Kent St. and a horrid 4-9 Washington team in the non-con. whoop-de-freakin' do. OSU will likely get their asses handed to them against LSU. KU, despite their record, should not be ranked above #3 due to their schedule and loss to MU in my opinion. As a KU fan, I'm fine with that. And OSU should not even be in the title game. Whomever wins tonight, there is no national champion this year and anyone outside of Ohio and Louisiana knows this.
  4. Congratulations to the Kansas Jayhawks. Nothing more satisfying than a victory as the clock runs down with the ball on your opponents 1 yard line. Except for maybe another touchdown. Finally a great BCS game to watch. Any questions as to whether or not KU belonged in the BCS should now be answered with a HELL YES!!! Can't wait till next season.
  5. did i hurt your feelings? awww...i hate alienating people. may you enjoy your winter break...there, how's that?
  6. uh...no thanks. i'm just thankful for what we get over here.
  7. well then mapquest is full of sh*t. i'm just ribbing my neighbors to the east. i wish wilco made more trips to my neck of the woods too...but, what are you gonna do? (shrug)
  8. damn...that's dedication right there. i salute you, a-man. and merry christmas to you.
  9. well...for me, i just hit shuffle for whatever particular artist. i don't necessarily have to listen to the whole album proper. i guess i just don't dwell on it that much. i just throw the newest collection of songs on the pile and enjoy.
  10. not sure if jeff ever owned a piece of actual real estate in stl, but i do realize belleville is a suburb 27 miles to the SE. in comparison, i live in the KC metro...but i don't live in KC...i hang out there. i think we are splitting hairs here. st louisans are so possessive.
  11. do you make sure all the labels on your canned goods face forward too? i used to be like that.
  12. i love me some death cab. in fact, i was listening to the whole of transatlanticism and plans just yesterday...and the shins too. on a semi-related note, both the most recent death cab and shins records seem to have been labeled as weaker than their previous output. i don't like to compare album to album because it takes the enjoyment out of it for me. if i like it, i like it. what came before shouldn't have any bearing. but, that's just me. i'm always looking forward to what these bands have coming up next regardless because i'm a fan.
  13. me too. i'm a big boulevard fan. but guinness is always my first choice.
  14. that article makes me hope wilco skips stl permanently. but then again, the writer of the "open letter" is really the only jackass in the equation. stl is a good town and deserving of a regular stop on the tour. the article doesn't seem to advance the cause however. people move all the time. jeff doesn't owe anything to anybody just because he used to hang out there. and the whining sure doesn't help.
  15. I don't know why, but when I read that, Velveeta Underground went through my head...that was weird. I've got dibs on that band name. I had a couple of Dan's albums back in the day. One vivid memory was when I was a lifeguard at our city pool watching elderly lap swimmers moving in time to "longer than....". it was like water ballet.
  16. which means wilco will be nominated for best new artist sometime in 2010?
  17. Mizzou beat Illinois the first game of the season by 6 and beat KU by 8. Both on neutral fields Mizzou lost to OU twice. The first game by 10 (away) and the second time by 21 on a neutral field. Fact is, Mizzou had their fate in their hands dropped it and then had their asses handed to them by OU. That game was a total thrashing in the second half. If you can't win the big one, then you have no reason to complain. The Cotton Bowl is nothing to be embarrassed about. And yes, the BCS sucks. I played NAIA football and we had a great playoff system. The only thing standing in the way of t
  18. he was a huge hero of mine growing up. once upon a time, i had the evel action figure with the wind-up motorcycle toy and an iron-on t-shirt of him doing the snake river jump. think i might have had the lunch box too. rip evel. i jumped many a wooden ramp on my bicycle pretending to be you.
  19. well, then i hope when sen. byrd passes on, the lead paragraph reads "former KKK member, racist and lover of government pork".
  20. I love how this is written. Kind of nips any misguided Democrat sympathy for Rep. Hyde's passing in the bud right off the top. I guess it's more difficult to say two positive non-partisan things he accomplised in his 83 years...I mean nobody would appreciate that kind of journalism at all. Besides, he's dead now so who gives a sh*t...especially from the left side of things. [just my registered independent sarcastic observation of perceived journalistic bias]
  21. it sounds like "the fog", which i saw around 1980. at least that's what the trailer reminded me of. generally i like steven king projects. the reviews say it's great. at least the ones i've read do.
