  1. I actually think that this little thread in this little message board pretty closely approximates the electorate. I apologize if I left out anyone -- let me know and I'll edit with your preference. Righties (for the most part): Tweedling Jules Ikol BleedOrange JakobN kwall 2cool (or whatever it is ) Centerists/Independents JUDE BB1313 Uncle Wilco Lefties: FHF Solace Flick Louie PATM
  2. Don't be an ass. And the current $9,000,000,000,000 deficit (with a projected $1,000,000,000,000 additional scheduled to be added it this year) won't allow for much allowance to play with as far as creating the "leftist" society you seem to fear.
  3. You mean the young LA governor with NO foreign affairs experience Also, the republicans (Bush, Bernanke, Paulsen) have just made us the closest to socialism in this country's history.
  4. I think its been pretty civil here, all in all. Politics always results in differing opinions, even when we fundamentally agree. Republican pundits can write off Powell's endorsement (and subsequent possible position in the administration), but the fact remains that it could sway some on the fence. Powell is looked at as being above the fray -- and honorable to the end -- not as a pandering politician. So undecided voters may look at this as being yet another straw that will get them to vote for Obama.
  5. I was at the Riviera last December for an Obama fundraiser (ostensibly just to see 4 of 6 of the Wilcos) when I became an Obama convert. I went to see a concert and walked out with a different idea of how our political representatives could be.
  6. This would be wonderful. Would they play Christ for President do you suppose Setlist suggestions -- we should start a new thread for that.
  7. I saw it this morning. It was all of the above and then some. His answer on the Muslim question was downright inspiring -- and shows the approach of conciliation is always right.
  8. Sadly, she likely doesn't realize what "anti-American" really means. Plus, she is dissing my alma mater and several Chicagoans, including a local Catholic priest, Father Pfleger. Pfleger is a white priest who has worked tirelessly and selflessly for at least a decade on CHicago's South side with many poor people. Kinda like Mother Theresa.
  9. Happy Birthday Wendy. I believe I owe you a phone call (expect it early next week)
  10. I wanted to canvass but ended up having to take Jake and his friend (girl) to Six Flags, so I donated to the campaign instead
  11. My most recent obsession -- Just A Kid recorded @ Riveria in February
  12. I think the severity of possible rioting/protesting will depend on the demeanor of the candidate -- both of which (and like Gore and Kerry) will advocate an orderly transfer of power.
  13. 48, sucker Sure there likely are a fairly equal number of people voting for/against Obama strictly because of his race. But there are far more people voting either for/against him for other reasons (and that includes race), like how they view his policies. I am voting for him solely because I think he will be the best president for our country.
  14. Colin Powell might endorse Obama Wow. That really could be the proverbial fork.
  15. I made the mistake of not protesting in 2000 -- never again.
  16. I hope you don't assume that everyone that might riot would be black. I would certainly take part in a protest if it looked like Obama was jobbed. Riots are another matter for me personally of course, but not for others I imagine.
  17. Yet another important reason to vet before going public. Did Obama just happen to knock on his door? Is that how they met?
  18. Yes -- while certainly serving our country overseas in the military is honorable, apparently it puts you in a position of eventually "finding another line of work" (as McCain put it) when inevitably you are not able to actually effectively teach since you don't know how to. What a load of crap.
  19. The republican party deserted me. If anything, I am more of a fiscal conservative appalled by the social republicans that now basically dominate the base. Also, I was downright dead against Bush II becoming president because his intellect was clearly outmatched by the job (and this has been borne out). I am less afraid of McCain under the same criteria -- I think he would not be disasterous. However, Palin scares the crap out of me and I hope she doesn't get re-elected for governor, or anything above dog-catcher. At the same time that the republican party deserted me, I grew more and more s

  21. I got a text from Barack stating that early voting has begun in IL
  22. I just think McCain is beginning to get desperate, grasping at whatever he thinks will get him headlines for the day. See below for proof.
