I remember saying in '92 that Clinton was the first presidential candidate that I would think of sleeping with, but that isn't why I voted for him. Also, Clinton has rosecea -- hence his large red nose. But I'll bet he's thown back some bourbon along the way too

Bobbob, not sure I saw an answer to Norbs' Q, so I will post others' instead. Thank you. Thank you

Gone with the Wind is probably required reading in GA -- and if I am recalling correctly -- "uppity" is in there at least once refering to a black person in a derogatory fashion Privately funded (and profits go to the shareholders -- or did) but with a "public" purpose of backing/buying mortgages from banks.

Won't you cheer up for cods sake?

So should we consider halfway the end of part two or part three? I'm close to the end of part two now. EDIT: Now that I am looking at the actual book, it should be the end of part two -- page 231

It's interesting that McCain is positioning her as "looking forward" (ostensibly since she is younger) while he is really looking backwards as you pointed out. Additionally, he also stated that Biden is a backwards pick.... Anyway, I just hope in the next 60 days much of the lustre comes off of Sarah Palin. It's like she's a new shiny object for the right and the press for the most part. And this is reposted, just to ensure that everyone reads it. Thanks Tracy

Earlier in the 9/3 show, he compared Thompson to Foghorn Leghorn. Classic.

Was it my imagination or did the stage at the RNC last night look like a giant middle finger?
-
I am happy it worked. No regrets!

As I said in another thread, this DS segment should be required viewing prior to voting.

Hope he hedged some of those futures with a few shorties.

Being Independent is like voting "present" (so why do the republicans want them so bad?)
-
I have never seen Olbermann -- I watch CNN for a more liberal slant and Fox for a more conservative one since I believe in seeing and understanding what "conservative america" is seeing. What I dislike about O'Reilly can't be put into a single post, but what gets me is his shameless hawking of his merchandise. Rush and Hannity do it too I guess. Does Olbermann?

Kris, it doesn't matter to me either. I was just pointing out to him that the Dem convention looked more like our reality here in the city than the republican one does. He is actually much more like bobbob; relatively race unaware, which is the way Scott and I like it and we cultivate it.

Yes, we did. And yes there were a few, along with some Asian faces. But not like the dems. And I don't think its an illusion. Here is a random picture of the Dem convention (google images) Here is one of the GOP -- from the GOP convention web site since I couldn't find one posted elsewhere. I know its not scientific, but its all I got. EDIT: Delegates are chosen (literally selected by the party) long before candidates are. So the fact that the democrats seem to more completely represent the population is what it is -- nothing to do with Obama.

Thanks Jules....

BTW -- required viewing for anyone voting this year. September 3 Daily Show

Guys, we are counting on you and many more like you. I am not a fan of trotting out my stepfather's memory to make a point, but we railed against the VA healthcare system that abandoned him back when he was sick and he was a west point graduated, retired lt colonel, 3 purple heart decorated POW, and he got little from the VA. I can only imagine it has gotten far worse for the rank and file. Yes. The republican party's delegates do not look much like America. That was the point I was making (and it was made for me).
-
Not to mention the insincere looking face/blinking/half smile when he thinks he's made a point. Jake counted 10 black faces and three yawners Plus, the stuff about the POW is getting old and tired. My stepfather served in Korea, was shot five times and then taken as a POW for 2.5 years in China and died in '93 largely due to injuries sustained there. He would be unmoved by this.

Not only does it make me vomit, it also seems very hypocritical thinking back both 4 years and 8 -- thinking of Kerry, and what happened with McCain/Bush in 2000 was just shameful. Not to mention Bush/Cheney both avoiding service like snide school children.
-
It didn't really say -- I'll let you know. I signed up for Sept 20 because the day works I think. The campaign will contact me.
-
This could actually be the best news yet. I think that Biden can safely take off the gloves when the debate comes up -- and any other Dems can with any other opportunity until then. She is fair game, and can't hide behind her sex or her lack of experience on the national stage. She spent a great deal of time talking about how those things either don't matter or that she has more of it. I also just signed up to canvas for Obama -- for me in MI.
-
I hope it gets more interesting in the next couple of days. Without partisanship, Thompson and Lieberman didn't set the world on fire.
-
I also have to say that this convention looks wildly underwhelmed. Even Johnny B. Goode can't get them going.
