  1. Other observations: Al Gore was great. All I can ever think when I see him is how different (read better off) we all would be had he been president. I loved the "regular americans" and also Eisenhower's granddaughter. I also loved the retired generals (though I was hoping for a surprise visit from Colin Powell -- oh well a girl can dream) The soul music was teh awesome City of Blinding Lights was another great choice I missed the balloons
  2. People are hoping for a leader that can be trusted to follow. This guy can be.
  3. I thought the speech was absolutely terrific. I think he not only hit, he hit it out of the park.
  4. Actually the cheapest carbon footprint is video/book content delivered to your PC or whatever, not to the library.
  5. I will be monitoring the Election thread 24/7.
  6. Since the median income for dems is likely lower than that of repubs (no I don't have stats, but I am taking a guess), wouldn't it be odd for the repubs to "play the class warfare card every election cycle", since otherwise they would be warring on themselves? Your other comments are somewhat of a stretch -- I don't recall saying they were stupid or only believe in hate and fear.
  7. It also looks so damn... orderly with all the aisles and stuff. You can almost feel the right wing uptightness just from the picture. I realize that the hall is empty, but damn.
  8. Interesting that they played "the rising" -- it's one of the few songs that tears me up every time I hear it
  9. Tonight was a great night for the dems. I loved both Bill's and Joe's speeches. It is all beginning to come together.... Also John Kerry was great -- unexpectedly.
  10. Sorry for hijacking.... I used to laugh that the MINI was really one of these -- bigger on the inside than the outside
  11. Just came up on shuffle.... It sounds a lot like the Ernie Kovacs music played during the Nairobi Trio bit.
  12. Yes -- he can fit his drums AND me in the car at the same time. He could only fit the drums in the MINI (which was pretty amazing, actually) The passenger side window (wouldn't go up/down), and the driver's seat back adjuster -- we fixed them each twice and after the second time we traded it in for the Scion.
  13. MINIs are fun to drive but we got rid of ours when the same two things broke twice on it. Scott now drives an '08 Scion xB. Also, the mileage on the MINI was not that great -- we had an '03 COOPER S.
  14. Supposedly here Agreed. I think that she did a lot to move her supporters, righty doubters on CNN and Fox aside.
  15. This thread is neither fun nor interesting to read anymore. Let's elevate the discourse a little bit, please?
  16. Get an actual mortgage -- not just a pre-qualification -- before you look and begin to bargain. You'll have a much better position if you have cash in hand. Second/thirded about the 20% down.
  17. Congrats all the Jules family -- babies are wonderful
  18. Scott, I think I like it for precisely that reason
  19. Many vibes to your friend. Hang in there Owl.
  20. Jefftivus for the rest of us Happy Birthday Jeff -- many thanks for all you have done and continue to do for all of your fans. Hope to be able to see you guys soon (holding out hope for another residency!)
  21. I can't get over the space between people there.... in chicago, there would have been many more crammed in. I would like to see them again like this.
