Habla Espagnol? If not, learn a few key words and smile all the time. Be the opposite of the stereotypical rude American. Take in all you can -- being out of the country makes you realize how big the world is and how small it is all at the same time. Drink a lot of water on the plane and stretch when you can. Have an awesome time and take many pictures (and share when you get back!)

White House Refused to Open Pollutants E-Mail

Reinstating the draft might have the desired effect of fewer wars. That's Rangel's position -- and it's also driven by the fact that the army is primarily made up of racial minorities and poor people. The draft would bring in more sons/daughters of rich white folks -- thus limiting our seemingly endless desire to go to war. Oh and for the record, beavers are nice. -
So what's wrong with some people with more helping other people with less?

First post in this thread. Wharf Rat came up on my iPod and I remembered how much I love that song - then I thought of this thread. One of these days I need to start collecting Dead shows. I had a friend in the early '80s who had a ton of GD cassettes and he gave me a few. One that I remember was from '77 with Stagger Lee (I think) and it just knocked me out -- I played it over and over and wore it out. Only saw them live twice -- once in '78 and once in '80, both times at the Uptown theatre here in Chicago..... seems like forever ago!

I think that actually catching Osama bin Laden would have satisifed a lot of people -- including me. Instead we got the major major distraction called Iraq, segueing into yet another dangerous distraction, Iran. -

Vista has to be the biggest piece of shit software to hit the world since.... well, since never. -
Quickly back to the energy issue -- What we need is an effort to switch to alternate energy types of no less magnitude than what the effort was for the space race in the late 50s - early 60s, or what it would be for another world war. Only this would be the war on OIL.

I used to give whirlypops/gourmet popcorn/a couple chick flicks to friends getting married. It was my staple present

We have only HW floors and ceramic tile. Prince the prince of all dogs is sure to be skeert of it, and is likely to stand on a chair like an elephant with a mouse.

Does anyone that has a roomba also have a dog? Curious on that part, both for the dog's reaction as well as the efficacy of cleaning up the hair that used to be attached to the dog.

I liked him greatly too -- way too young. In fact, he's the same age as my husband

Ah, right. I certainly get that last part.

What's the price of gas where you are?

I too would love to telecommute. I am training a new employee, so once she is up to speed, I'm gonna ask. -
I don't get how this impacts his ability or worthiness to pick a VP. Does anyone? I mean, if he didn't break any laws, and the loan itself wasn't improper, then what's the big deal just in general?

Knockin' on Heaven's Door (Zevon version), and a whole bunch of "up" stuff since I believe in reincarnation anyway. Though I am curious why you started this thread Days -- you're not even 21, right?

Mega vibes miss LL -- you are all kinds of awesome and things will get better!

You might not call them evangelicals, but they still may consider themselves to be. It's really irrelevant though -- Obama is going to "market" towards them with messages that his campaign feels will resonate to them.

I am a fan of 74 degrees. For swimming outdoors, you need anything above 80 (and sunny). We are FINALLY getting air conditioners. We dodged the bullet last year, but there have been days in the last 10 years where we have been chased out of our apartment even after we had become experts in fighting the heat like folks did pre AC.

No it was "Christ for President" I know Flick, and it was the latter.

I actually stopped into a dealership on Friday when I had a little time to kill waiting for Jake. I was thinking briefly about trading in my beloved Accord EX for a Fit or something. I think gas would need to climb above $5 (and look like it would be there for a while) for me to actually pull the trigger. I am above water on the Accord and have just a year left to payoff. No car payment sounds damn good right about now. -

I got nearly 400 miles to my most recent tank -- just about 25 MPG. I figure that the reduced traffic is improving my mileage, as about half of the overall mileage is on the highway. I am seeing more bikes and motorcycles/scooters than before, that's for sure. BTW, paid $4.15 today. -
Well, even if it happens, can't it be changed or abandoned? I would think so -- especially if both parties choose to do so.

I am losing track of how many kinds of awesome that is.
