A "Sidney Pollack film" was one that I would go out of my way to see, because even if the subject didn't appeal that much to me, I knew it would be well made. RIP indeed.

What's the price of gas where you are?
Edie replied to Twisted Acres's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Gas prices here in the US are also up because the dollar is weak (according to the WSJ). Gas is up about three times over what it was in '02 in Europe (with the stronger Euro), vs five times here with our weak dollar. That, and oil continues to be a place where investors are seeing fast returns, thus driving up the prices higher. This happens periodically with gold and other commodities. Meanwhile..... $4.20 on the tollway this am -- and I am thinking about every trip now, even though the actual increased cost is about $80 or so for our family each month (2 cars, $20 per fillup, 2 fillups pe -
interesting how this is approaching the 80/20 rule.

Really... it's just that simple...

Interesting that her apology only covered the Kennedy family, not Obama directly, which is the first thing I thought of. She is saying "I'm in it in case Barack is murdered like RFK". Jeezus.

"Mental health" meaning PTSD, or depression/panic disorder or psychosis? "Physical health" I think would also include Altzheimer's which RR definitely was showing signs of in his second term. And, FDR probably never should have begun his fourth due to age, his long illnesses, and the effects of three other terms. All of these are worse for a president in some ways than most mental health issues, IMO.

Gas on the tollway (I90) was $4.02 yesterday, and $4.19 this morning. Jesus. -
AND THE SOX WON ANOTHER ONE (so my posting about it on a semi-obscure, alt-country band's web site didn't jinx it ) And bobbob, I hope to get to Miami.... we do have customers there.

I have examined my own feelings about this. I have heard other a number of women, most recently Pat Schroeder on NPR, sounding so disappointed about Hillary not winning the nomination. I have looked for the "It matters more to me that the president is a woman than any other trait" part of me, and it really just isn't there. I started this campaign season not really knowing who I was for -- basically neutral for Obama, and probably more of a Hillary fan, but the more I heard and saw and watched it unfold, the more I became staunchly an Obama fan. While having a woman president would be nice,

Eight in a row for the boys in black. I hope I didn't just jinx it.

Enough about Rove -- I want to get back to talking about Hillary. Daniel, talk about batshit math -- and the fact that the media is lapping it up for the most part. Here is an excellent article about how she is running roughshod over the popular vote totals to try to slant them in her favor. I mean.... really.

I don't think that anyone has come close to BD for sheer genius as well as longevity. He's like Michael Jordan -- incredibly talented beginning, who then matured into something even bigger than himself, then enjoyed a mellower afterglow. It's rather ridiculous to even try to compare Jeff (who's writing I love and respect, duh) to BD, IMHO.

Tell me about it!

I have a thing for Sean Hannity. As much as I want to punch him in the face, I am oddly attracted to him.
-
I believe he is referring to Ron Paul, though I think that if McCain does not choose Huckabee to be his running mate, then it's over for the other key voting block, the evangelicals. They might be inclined to just not vote. And Ken, your McCain vote in IL is like standing in front of a tsunami.

The timing and even who he endorsed was actually (according to news reports), precipitated by the divisions Edwards saw after seeing that Obama was clearly the front runner, but running into these issues in places like WV. Edwards wants to get the nomination over to bring the party together. I think this is when the avalanche begins. The knives will be out for Hillary; I think there is not a lot of love for her and the way that she is perceived to be running roughshod over the process, not to mention a chance to stick it to Bill after the 1998-2000 fiasco. Also, this FL/MI delegate busine

Yep, and along with the endorsement from three former SEC chairmen (one of whom served under Bill Clinton), and the NARAL endorsement, pretty much negates Hillary's WV win. Maybe Edwards for VP?
