SWEEEET! Echoing what others said -- this is the proverbial foot in the door and your "shine time"!

Ha -- If past history is any indication, I spoke waaaayyyyy to soon. Plus, I probably jinxed myself by watching about 30 seconds of the Louisville game
-
Oops -- we were just talking about that here and there are probably less than 1000 of these still registered in the US. It didn't take much police work to figure this one out

Huh. Who would have thunk it -- not me that's for sure. I just wish I had some dough on this

This is pretty close to what I would have predicted here. And ikol

Woot! Good luck and vibes and all that. A few tips which you can take or leave... Enjoy the interview -- there is nothing worse than a candidate that looks like they would rather be anywhere but there Be enthusiastic about the job -- talk about what you would do with the position, but not in an arrogant way Remember -- Look to them like you are the person that will not cause new problems for them while solving all their old ones Lastly, remember that they already think you are qualified. You would not get the interview otherwise. Your goal is to be likeable and be a person that they thi

I know there are many Obama supporters on the board -- so an additional Q might be if the Wright thing changed your opinion of Barack Obama.

Healing to you both and your families.

Huh. My ancestors were not slave owners, but were wealthy northerners at the time of the civil war. So I was not exactly unfairly affected by what happened to my ancestors -- in fact it's been pretty nice for me. I still believe that those that were unfairly affected to have that unfairness be acknowledged at minimum. Has there ever been an official apology for the fact that slavery was legal in the US? I don't think there has been....

Hmmm I remember getting tickets more than a few days after they went on sale at the Pageant in '06.... though I could just be my foggy brain mis-remembering.... ANd yes, some local love for them would be awesome

I just want to say that if there is any question how much "more popular" the band is now than prior to SBS/VW/SNL -- here's proof. They played one show at the Pagent in 3-06 and if I recall correctly, it took a while to sell out (last time they had played STL was in 2004). Here they are now, two years later, and they sell out two shows (soon to be the third) within minutes. I am very happy for them

May the many pillowy stars (not to mention the silvery ones) help Tara get better (she's ready for that radio cure )

If I remember correctly, the technical problems rendered this show to be almost unlistenable.

Basically, people are entitled to their own opinions. People can voice them by saying "this is my opinion" and then equally, understand that others may have completely different opinions -- yet then understand that its OK, since they are just opinions. This is my own opinion, of course. I could just post more Donatella pics if you want. There are a shit load of them out there.

I posted about this before, but anyway.... When Jeff told the story at the LRS, he talked about how on the surface that this really could have been an opportunity for them to get together and get over whatever was in their pasts. I mean, here they are, basically alone in a relatively sparsely populated part of Mexico and yet.... nothing like that happened. Jeff said that that was the big lesson for him, and that he was really OK with it, and he was amazed how OK he was. (I now take that to mean no or maybe minor panic attacks.) This had happened only a couple months prior to our show....

She can kill just about any thread.

I still have watched exactly zero minutes of college basketball this year. But somehow I have 12/16 teams in the SS and all of the rest intact. Since I am only looking at scores, memphis is the one giving me fits as I have them in the finals.

Yeah, I was looking around also, and I haven't seen that they were either.

'68 Olympics in Mexico city. The US places 1-2 in some track and field event, and these two guys do the black power salute instead of hand over heart for the national anthem. The USOC strips them of their medals. Linky

I believe they finally reinstated their gold medals. But yeah, I remember that.
