  1. Tremendously disappointed in the results last night, but I don't think for a second that the tide has turned for Hillary. I was watching MSNBC (for some reason) and Tim Russert read off of a memo from the Obama campaign that was generated some time ago, predicting almost exactly what has transpired in the campaign thus far. This included predicting who was going to win which states, which was dead on with the exception of Obama losing ME (he won ME). They also predicted he would lose OH and TX, while picking up enough delegates in each to stay ahead (seemingly correct). It also mentioned
  2. bobbob, if there is any way you can get here, it would be awesome. I also wish Miss Chris would make the drive up
  3. Oh my. This IS going to be quite the parrr-tay!
  4. Barack wins VT. Too close to call the other states. I'm on the edge of my SEAT man!
  5. if there are 10 people not talking about their dreams for every one that is, these guys are getting a lot of action
  6. By the way -- it's northern 'burbs of CHICAGO for those that may not know As Morgan said, we'll have food, wine/beer/soft drinks there etc, but please feel free to bring anything you might like, or just to add to the general madness. Last year this went until at least 2:00 when my son Jake finally fell asleep (COATS!) and I thought that if I were to make it to Erin's the following night, I had to get to bed. So, without stepping too much on Morgan's toes, I think that if you can get there by midnight, there will still be a little bit of party left! I also have the directions etc. to M

  9. There just isn't ever any explanation that makes any sense when kids and guns are involved. vives to all.
  10. I hate it too, as one who generally chooses not to recline due to a bad back. I think what gets me the most is the person who, immediately when the bell goes ding, practically ejects themselves backwards in their haste to move it back. Still, I voted yes because it annoys me, though I think they have the right to, since the seat does actually recline

That's rich.... Ummm, didn't they cut short HIH? Also, as others have commented on Ellen Page -- she sure is cute as a button, but I think she yelled all of her speaking parts. She will learn that it's not needed to do that in live theatre. It bordered on annoying.
  12. Gawd -- A few days ago Cokie Roberts said something very similar about how women are (or at least should be) feeling obligated to vote for Hillary. It really took me aback. I agree with you MK; I voted for Barack because I genuinely like him and want him to be my president -- and I hope that others are looking past the media hype and are doing the same thing.
  13. I would rather put knitting needles in my eyes than travel anywhere with Rick Steves. Talk about annoying.
  14. Bump. So what thinks ye regarding the TX and OH primaries? This is getting really interesting. I am still hoping that Obama can pull out both, but its looking like TX may be all he will get (if that at all; polls in TX are showing them in a virtual dead heat). The rhetoric is getting pretty heated. Hillary's camp is now claiming that even a one state loss for Obama will look like buyer's remorse, and give her reason to stay in the race through PA at least.
  15. Hey Laurie did you/rick get my email? And everyone -- I would so love to be in the audience -- Tipitina's is a great place to see a show. They'll be rocking the place both of those nights. It is so small that there isn't a bad place to stand in the house, though we know how spoiled we are feeling somehow left out in the third row . So instead, see you here on VC (I think).
  16. I am missing this show due to residency hangover (my hubby's not mine )

I too felt very proud of "the boys"; like some and unlike others, I thought that they looked relatively relaxed given a pressure show like that. It must be very hard to go from cold to "on" with no warm up time so to speak. I have seen many of my favorite bands over the years on SNL (including Neil, the stones, U2 etc etc)and I can't say that many performed all that well. I thought it interesting that John didn't sing back up vocals at all (which seemed especially apparent during Hate it Here). Loved the improvisation during Walken, and the Total Pros add a really nice dimension to both song
  21. RIP Buddy. Band of Gypsies was on our turntable incessantly the summer of '76, along with the Dead's American Beauty. Changes indeed.
  22. I love flying but am not a fan of turbulence. I just had two pretty uneventful 4 hour flights -- that's the way to go. And when there is turbulence, I just read (bring a great book) and recognize that these pilots are used to flying in way worse conditions, especially since most come from the air force. They take off/land on relatively little boats that are rocking and pitching in the dark, and they do so just fine. That really helped me PS bobbob you are here now?
  23. I think they'll be snorting coke from hookers' asses by 1:30 during the after party. Remember, the show ends at 1:00 EST. Tough to move over the gear to another location -- even for the h0t roadies. And a Friday show would be kinda rude given they had to move a show to accommodate.

Rachel Dratch was the one that I thought was incredibly unattractive and not a good addition. She ended up being really funny in some of the more memorable ongoing bits in her era, notably as the drunk Bostonian with Jimmy Fallon, and the therapist/naturalist wife to Will Farrell where they constantly talked about having sex.
