I'm not the biggest fan of the oldies albums... BUT, I have to say, this new song, I Could Have Told You, is the best Dylan vocal performance in years.

Ok so here's what I have planned: Reckless Records in the Loop, because it's within walking distance of the hotel, so why not! Wicker Park has three, Permanent Records, Shuga Records, and the biggest Reckless, so those should all be walkable to each other, and they're not too far from the Loop so we could probably get a Lyft. My wife wants to go to the Lincoln Park Zoo so I'm hoping while we're in that area we can go to Dave's Records, which sounds promising. Thank you both, that's great. We'll be there for four full days, so that should give us time to hop on a train and explore some different parts of the city. I've heard the transit system's pretty good, so I don't see that being a problem. We're flying in so I can't buy too much, so I'll hit up Reckless in the Loop and branch out as much as I can!

The wife and I will be going to Chicago for the first time in the spring! I've never been to a city that big, it's pretty exciting. We're looking at staying in The Loop area, as that seems to have the most museums/restaurant/touristy stuff. We also considered The Magnificent Mile but that looks like it has mostly high end shopping, which isn't really our thing. I'm of course, very excited to do some record shopping, but the amount of Chicago record stores that come up online is a little overwhelming. Do the local Chicago VC'ers have any favourites?

Great thread! Some of you are very worldly, I'm jealous. I've never been much of a traveller but I did venture out of British Columbia this year! The wife and I went to Seattle (to see a certain music act). I hadn't spent much time in the US of A before, but it felt very much like Vancouver, just with some slight differences. Next year we'll be going to Chicago, I've never been more east than Calgary before, so that should be interesting. Yeah, those ones would be great, same with the Eldorado EP. I found a decent bootleg of it this spring but it'd be nice to have a real copy. There's only Hawks & Doves and Re-ac-tor left to reissue and then we're into the Geffen stuff which I would assume won't be reissued with the rest of Neil's stuff (unless he got the rights to those albums back?). Then we're into the late 80s, so hopefully not too much longer... Yeah for an early 2000's release, there must have been a lot of vinyl copies of SIlver & Gold, as I found that one new at a store in my local mall not too long ago.

I already own all those records, but that's good to hear the reissues are moving along at a better pace now. The time between the first set with Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, Harvest, etc and the last set with Time Fades Away, was a long, long time. Hopefully this means we get the hard to find 90s albums like Harvest Moon soon....ish.

Not a top 10 but here's the records I listened to most this year. Plus with small little write ups since apparently I'm procrastinating on my actual work this morning! Wilco - Schmilco, of course. Sam Beam & Jesca Hoop - Love Letter For Fire, the Sam Beam record I've listened to the most since Woman King or In The Reins. I assumed an entire album of duets would get old but there's a lot of variety and substance here. Yeah haha I suck. For the record, I'd like to hand out candy BUT the first year we were in our house we did it and I had a few adults come to the door in just normal clothes, without kids. I'm not sure exactly what their deal was, it made the wife and I a little uncomfortable. Plus the constant knocking on the door is very stressful on the dogs, so two years ago we made the decision to just drop it entirely. I'm a Halloween grinch!

Today is the day, my wife, dogs, and I, all hide out in the basement with the lights off upstairs. No trick-or-treaters for us!
