  1. Growing up in a small, remote town, I never saw a ton of concerts, but in July 2003 I went to Edmonton AB and saw My Morning Jacket a few months before they released It Still Moves. I'd never heard of them before, I was there to see the Foo Fighters (I was 16!). I'll never forget hearing One Big Holiday and being completely awe struck. I had never heard a guitar solo like that before. It was the beginning of a big change for me, within a year my music tastes would have moved completely to Wilco, The Beatles, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, etc and the mid-2000s indie rock scene. But I like to think tha
  2. Songs: Ohia has some great stuff, check out the Journey On collection. And Wilco, of course.
  3. Quick, someone lend me $12358 CAD for that white telecaster. I promise to probably not pay you back!
  4. I hope he drops some BOMB shells about Billy Bragg. I want an audiobook version read by Jay Farrar.
  5. Now that the Cutting Edge is out the way is finally clear for Bootleg Series Volume 13: Blood on the Tracks right?? I want to hear 10 different versions of Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts.
  6. Still waiting for my LP set to arrive, hopefully Monday or Tuesday. Spotify has a 15 track sampler, which I think is all from the 2CD/3LP set, and it's fantastic. In the meanwhile, Salon.com has a great writeup detailing the entire 18 disc set. I wish there was a way I could stream or pay for a (cheaper than physical) digital download, it sounds interesting. Just not $600 interesting, especially on CD.
  7. It's been over 20 years now, Jay really needs to let it go. Every time he goes to the press and starts talking crap about Jeff he just comes across really bitter and jealous. It's all just a little sad. Especially when Jeff, if he talks about Jay, says positive things like: I haven't talked to Jay in a long time but I definitely still follow what he's up to and listen and enjoy what he does. via reddit.
  8. Nice my white vinyl copy just showed up, on a Sunday (weird). I've always wanted to visit Amoeba, but at least now I can say I've bought from them The record sounds great (I've never noticed a difference between coloured vs black), looks great, I especially enjoyed the back cover being the barcode. Downloading the P4K Festival now!
  9. Neil's releasing a new Performance Series, this one is Disc 11, it's a Blue Notes live album called Bluenote Cafe, two CDs or... 4LPs.
  10. Looks like there's a physical release of 1989 coming out.
  11. Random Name Generator 7" showed up today, plays at 33rpm. The A side sounded really good on vinyl, the fuzziness of the song suits the format well. The vinyl is a little more marbled-looking than it appears in the picture. The B-side is the acoustic version of Bull Black Nova from Solid Sound. My Roadcase Series of it sounds great, but it sounded even better on vinyl, hopefully this is a taste of a full vinyl LP release of it.
  12. http://www.bullmoose.com/ A record store that only sells within the US. Amoeba has the white Star Wars too though, thank goodness.
  13. My understanding is CDs will eventually just naturally degrade over time, but LPs will last if they're left unplayed (and in a good environment obviously).
  14. Since they're not even playing it now, I'd imagine EKG will be a deep cut.
  15. Is there any Bob Dylan Live Show Archive like the Wilco one Analogman has in his signature? I'd like to hear some of these bootlegs.
  16. What Wilco should do is an acoustic version of Impossible Germany during their hootenanny encores. Then have Pat do the solo ON A BANJO!!!!
  17. Yet another example of music made 21 years before I was born that end being the sort of music I am into. This series always has a lot of care when it comes to the presentation, and music is always top notch. I grabbed Another Self Portrait this summer, it's now some of my favourite Dylan music ever. I'll be picking up the 3LP version which I believe is the same as the 2CD.
  18. I live in a rural area, no local record stores within driving distance, but ordering off Ameoba worked. Thanks for the tip Rhino! Did everyone see the Random Name Generator 7" got added to the Kung Fu store?
  19. Ah that sucks, Bull Moose won't ship to Canada.
  20. This is a list I can get behind. After Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, I find Being There, Summerteeth, A Ghost Is Born (and Anodyne if you're factoring in UT) all fairly interchangeable. They're all great yet so different, it's hard to compare them. A lot of time it comes down to what kind of mood I'm in.
  21. Except those Son Volt and Jayhawk albums don't have anyone from Wilco playing on them. Also Trace above Yankee Hotel Foxtrot?
  22. You should work in marketing for the band! "Wilco The Album: Better than Maroon 5, buy now!!"
  23. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED: 1) Yankee Hotel Foxtrot 2) Anodyne 3) A Ghost Is Born 4) Being There 5) Summerteeth 6) Loose Fur 7) Still Feel Gone 8) Mermaid Avenue 9) Born Again in the USA 10) Star Wars 11) March 16/20 1992 12) AM 13) Sukierae 14) Sky Blue Sky 15) The Whole Love 16) Mermaid Avenue II 17) Wilco the Album 18) No Depression 19) Mermaid Avenue III I included all the Wilco albums, Mermaid Avenue albums, Loose Fur, Uncle Tupelo, and Tweedy. But not Golden Smog, 7 Worlds Collide, or Down With Wilco. No Depression has a ton of energy and attitude but frankly, the songs aren't nearly as grea
  24. Sansone for me. Not surprising, I've always found Pat to be a bit of a kindred spirit, and of course these quizzes are 100% accurate.
  25. Ehhhh..... well, the interviews for the film looked great but that editing for the clip was horrendous. Hopefully that does not reflect how the final film will be. I enjoyed the AMA, Nels even responded to one of my questions, I asked about what he was using on his resonator during Misunderstood, and about his tunings for lap steel and resonator: What a nice guy!
